does this mod help with the AIs focus on the play and how they only attack the player sometimes...

The AI factions generally won't gang up on you unless your reputation is indeed despicable, but same applies to other AI factions.

no its just that I started a game this morning (unmodded) and factions go across the world just to attack me (even though say I have a ful army in a city) when there are plenty of empty rebel towns along the way, Im just tired of it and looking for an AI that will make it stop.

Hmmm I think they won't all attack you just like that in this mod, at least they don't tend to do that to me when I am testing.

also can the AI handle the mongols on their own with this or do they need my help?

An example of my story before...I started a campaign with spain and on turn 4 sicily comes to attack my highly guarded city, even though passed like 3 african rebels

Whether the AI can handle them on their own depends on whether they are left alone or been constantly at war. Sometimes it can handle it relatively well, although not fend off the mongols completely, other times it gets gobbled up rather quickly. As per my .91 changelog, I made some changes to AI but haven't gotten around to testing that far. In 0.9, the mongols were active and moving around rather than become idle or wander aimlessly, but I cannot promise that this is still the case in 0.91. I'm about to start working on this again though, so in the next few days I'll likely know.

As for AI randomly blockading ports and invading the same province over and over, I've toned that down a lot, but there may be rare instances where this still happens and I haven't completely removed it (because otherwise the AI in general will become very docile if it cannot navally invade).

As for telling whether the mod works for your or not, you can check the stats on say general's bodyguards. If the european ones have 6 charge, you got it working. If they got 8 charge, it isn't working. If it isn't working, please post a screenshot of your m2tw folder and details on how you are running the game.

Hmmm I don't see a picture....

For an example on how it should look like:
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=99425

Scroll down to the screenshot I posted there. VanillaMod isn't listed in my tree view there, but it should be where folders like MPC and KOTR are. The VanillaMod-bat and .cfg files should be in the main m2tw folder as per screenshot.

Also make sure you do have the [feature] part in your cfg

[edit]
OK got your picture now. All looks fine to me. What must be the problem is that your cfg is not having the correct contents. Check you got this on the top of your cfg file:

[features]
mod=VanillaMod

aha found the problem.
Your cfg file is VanillaMod.cfg.cfg (note your m2twpreference file lacks the extension)
Rename it to VanillaMod without .cfg

Works!! your a genius!
thanks so much!

now one last question....do I have to open it with the batch file every time?

FactionHeir
03-08-2008, 23:11
Yes, you will need to run the batch file each time you want to play with the mod enabled. Running without it will run your normal M2TW installation.

You can create a shortcut to the batch file on your desktip for ease of use if you like.
The window the batch file holds open can be closed. I would have coded it that way if I knew what command should be put in there.
