Just out of curiosity. The answers are identical to Tincow's for ease of comparison.

where is the poll...:clown:

Oddly enough the topic gets created before I've finished it. :sweatdrop:

okay sorry... that'll teach me to be so quick :clown:

I voted that I don't mind which is used, Roma Surrectum is a great mod and there are plenty of others that would be worth playing. I'd always like to play as the ancient Greeks.

Indeed, the Independent Greeks and Allies would be a good choice.

I wouldn't mind playing EB, although I think the AI will be more challenging on the battle field and campaign map with a good MTW2 mod.

Playing the Greek City States does sound tempting...

TinCow

I will play either, but prefer M2TW due to the vast AI improvements.

I'm still intersted about the influence of your rules TC, are they suitable for any faction or time period?

I don't own Rome, although I'd be willing to pick up a copy if KotR used it.

no one owns Rome, it is a republic :clown:

should be able to get it quite cheap nowadays. Though judging from both polls it seems standard M2 is the most popular, though with or without mods requires another mod lol.

They should work just fine for any time period. The only problem they would have would be with a faction that does not have some kind of rank hierarchy that we can mimic. Republican Rome or Democratic Athens might cause problems, but even then we could probably manage if we worked at it hard enough. Keep in mind that my rules are not set in stone either. If they don't suit what the majority want to do, then there's no need to use them.

I'd think that Rome is better, because I do not own MII

May I suggest Roma Surrectum for the greek cities?

as most of the cities have their own version of hoplites, making it better for roleplaying purposes?

Of course Athens would have to have a vote on stuff (maybe allow non-players to vote, given the size of the city/its juries) such as their own armies/leaders, but other cities were not so democratic and could probably get away with 1 player acting as their tyrant

I'd prefer Rome. I can hardly play M2TW on lowest settings on my current PC and I don't plan on upgrading soon (because I'm losing interest in PC gaming ).

I would almost certainly join if it was Rome

Hi, there is actually a PBeM campaign for EB being started and it looks like it will be in the style of KOTR( as in roleplaying the characters for 1 faction). Rome has been decided as the faction and there is already a fair number of people who have expressed interest in joining. Mini is hosting it. He apparently hosted a similar game over at TWC.

I think that the option: I dont care if we use Rome or Med is not giving good results. How do we know if we are going to use Med or Rome?

Ferret

they don't count towards either one, they are votes to show interest but no preference over either. The decision should be made over the votes which state a preference.

As with the Kingdoms poll, this one seems clear too. A significant majority prefer M2TW and two major KOTR players will not play if RTW is chosen. The only people who prefer RTW are people who didn't play in KOTR. While I wish we could pick something that would let everyone play, it's simply not possible. If we have to exclude anyone, I would prefer that it not be KOTR veterans. Also, due to the more recent release of M2TW I think using that game is more likely to allow for a broader range of recruitment.

Is M2TW stable? IIRC, it had a lot of bugs that made it unplayable.

Ferret
04-14-2008, 21:51
there were never any game breaking bugs and the bugs that were there have been fixed in the patches, it is more stable than RTW imo.

Ramses II CP

The wooden walls bug is the only significant crash bug you're likely to encounter, and it's easily avoided. I've been playing for almost a year and had two crashes, both of which could've been related to things I was doing in the background.

So, yes, it's about as stable as games come these days.

I've been playing since the game came out and only over CTD when I had incorrectly installed a mod. Beat that :P

Cecil XIX

I don't think MII:TW has ever crashed on me. It's the opposite of the first MTW, where all the gameplay features worked flawlessly, but after however many years and three computers I still can't stop the constant CTDs.

:ave:I prefer Rome over Medieval 2 because my medieval 2 runs really choppy I don't know why.
