View Full Version : Need some Ideas
Hello as you know I am the soundtrack writer for the mod. I know I am am not on this forum often and I have yet to put music up. Currently I have created two very raw music tracks that are not quite polished up for display. But aside from that I am having some difficulty what kind of sounds should go with what factions. If any one has any ideas about what the tone or "vibe" of the tracks should be for each faction please post them here. I would love to hear your input.

Maybe you could listen to Midnight Syndicate's D&D soundtrack, it's really cool and got that fantasy setting feeling, with a good variety of songs.
Hmmm...for orcs...I'd say something like This (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0dvkWqbmesE) and this Bodies (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sO_QntXc-c4)
And for the Undead or Vampire Counts...The Graveyard Smash (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0thH3qnHTbI)
For Chaos On a Leash (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K27d7Ut5bXo)
Those are up to you ~;)
For high elf i would simply take the music from the Britanic campaign on kingdoms, fits nicely i think.

If you've ever played Heroes of Might and Magic V, I think most of the musics fit nicely with their given Warhammer counterpart.
This might give you some inspiration :clown:

Anything Native American (preferably southern) will fit the lizardmen nice and well. Basically anything that has a heavy percussion featuring is definately suitable for them. I can go and search around if you'd like :)

Borrow some of the work they did for the Medieval 2 Mod Broken Crescent. Brilliant soundtrack on that. It encompasses lands from Turkey and the Middle East, Asia Minor, and Spills into India a touch.

I would like to listen drumbs and fake voices, plus neoclasic music. Take (Euro_Battle_4)_War_of_Kings.mp3 (M2TW: Kingdoms) as an example, author: Jeff van Dyck.

Monty Pythons the Holy Grail theme for Opening video/Main screen.
I think the entire Age of Conan soundtrack was awesome, and would fit more than well in the Warhammer theme.

I think its important that the Orc soundtrack fails to be in rythm. I've always envisioned their music as if being played by a menacing but drunk Orcs.

Use music from Kingdoms, or make versions from those tracks, I love the song War of Kings.
Thank all for your ideas, they are very helpful. That warhammer online video was especially helpful. As for using things from anything else, thats not going to happen. I'm not here to copy and paste music into our mod I'm here to compose it myself. But thank you for replying anyway.

¿How many factions will be created for this mod?
I read somewhere that the game allows only 8 factions...

No, it's the custom battles that only allow 8 factions, the campaign allows many more.

Great!!!
In that case I suposse the factions listed above in the warhammer Total war forum will be the playable factions (except for the dogs of war I think)... am I right? maybe you could try with some factions that can't be found in the wargame like araby or estalia?

More factions = more time. More time = more unhappy people and increased chance of mod never getting done!

I can't think of what sort of music exactly but here is some stuff that I hope would inspire good Bretonnian music. The first three are from the movie Excalibur which is about the arthurian legends which are the basis for the Bretonnians. I'm not suggesting you use any of these exactly but I hoping they will inspire you.
The inspiration music in this clip starts at 1:34 but do watch the whole clip

This one would make good battle music

These two are from Kingdom of Heaven

Also I suggest you listen to the Kingdom of Heaven soundtrack which can be downloaded here

Or watch the movie, or listen to the soundtrack and watch the movie.
