View Full Version : Wierd problem
When I updated to the latest one, i crash when ever theres an Ancestor unit. i tried to changed it to the lowest detail, but its still crashes when i look up close to it and sometimes even if it attacks. This never happened from the last update. help pls
Interesting. Since I wa not able to replicate your error (at least not with Tomoe Gozen and Miyamoto Musashi), please give me some more information. What I need is:
- Unit size setting
- Were you using the ancestral unit as a General unit
- Exact time of the CTD (as you said: when zooming in or attacking, right?)
Btw, low details shouldn't change a thing, since there is only one level of detail implemented for
the ancestral units anyway^^
Please tell me about your observations,
regards,

Unite Size Setting:
I tried Normal(with low detail and highest), and Huge(with lowest detail)
Were you using the ancestral unit as a General unit - Yeap
Exact time of CTD is zooming up close.. not sure on attacking maybe its coincidence
Im going to try Normal & lowest since tht was my "normal" setting before the update.

I did all these with them as Generals
OK i did these next observations
First i tried Using Tomoe Gozen Normal Size Lowest detail
Works fine
Next i tried Tomoe Gozen Huge Size Lowest Detail
Works fine
Next I thought if it works for Tomoe it might work for this one
I tried Jade Emperor Huge Size lowest Detail
at first it works fine but when it attacked (As in it did the attack animation) it crashes (Although it did 2-4 attacks before it crashed) i haven't tried normal size yet.
Im not sure on other Ancestors i will try on them and tell u the results
Note that i had updated my graphics card and my DirectX is version 10
My first guess is that it's due to your using them as general units.
This should not be done, as these units can't display the General properly.
However, I'll take a look at it later.

Really? I had a custom battle Karazai vs Zuanshi and used Genghis Khan as my general unit, it all worked perfectly. Maybe it's because Genghis Khan and his pack of wolves has more than 1 soldier in it's unit
Exactly. But he is - and will stay, since the King of Hell will be a 1-man (dragon) unit as well - the only exception in that regard.
What are you going to do when an ancestral unit, wanders the campaignmap in a single unit stack? You can't prevent the ai from doing so? Then you'll have to use auto calc. But many players would't know this. Nor would they know in custom battle.
Have you found solutions to this?
Hm. First of all, this is a very unlikely scenario since Ancestral units are very, very hard to build. Second, using an ancestral unit as a general *does* perfectly work for me - it just looks weird once the general dies, that is.
Actually I don't have a clue about what went wrong for asian. Since he seems to be the only one with this bug I suggest to uninstall AND delete the remaining RTW folder completely. Uninstallation alone might NOT be enough. Then re-install using the latest patch.
EDIT: And Asian is right after all it seems. Thanks for the info, there seems to be something wrong with the Jade Emperor's animation set. This will be corrected in the next update. Did you experience similar problems with other units? If yes, please tell me. Always defend your standpoint, in the end this is most helpful for me!

Oh, I tought it happened with your version too.
Yes, but only with the Jade Emperor so far... this model was using a special new skeleton, so maybe - maybe - that was the reason. At least I do not get any CTDs after I exchanged the skeletons...
Well i got ctd by doing this too
I did 6 untis of Tomoe gozen (not a general)
and 6 units of Musashi (not a general
and same with Mongol, Choson, Yuwan and Zhuanshi
everything was fine at first
then i zoom in to Tomoe and musashi then i got ctd
I think this will happen to any ancestors but not sure DX
Lowest Detail
Normal Unit Size
