Hi mates.:)

Just a short report about one idea in which a small group of members of Celtiberos Clan (probably the most laureated clan in TW history :whistling http://www.celtiberos.net) is currently working.

The objective is a military-only campaign, that is no-construction, no-recruitment issues, only the management of a large army to fulfil some objectives in a highly detailed map. In order to test the feasibility of this idea, this mod will use only vanilla units (unless any other mod team offers us some aragonese and/or almohade units :juggle2:). As we were looking for a "closed battlefield", we felt that the conquest of Mallorca (not by the german tourists in summer :laugh4:, but by the aragonese troops in 1229-1231) would be a good test.

The mod will be based on data collected in "The Book of Facts", the self-biography of Jaime I el conquistador (James I the conqueror) and other historical sources.

The summary of the campaign can be seen in this map:

The aragonese troops will board in Salou (Tarragona coast), represented by the small piece of land in the upper left corner of the map, and will lead to Mallorca following the yellow arrow. However, a storm (as it happened in reality) will modify the plans and the boats will arrive in a random part of the Mallorca coast (possibilities marked with yellow crosses). From that point, the player will have to plan the military campaign with his forces, either from the invader or the defender point of view.

Features already included:
- Completely changed time development: 1 week per turn, starting in September 1229, with random beginning and end of the winter season.
- Real names and titles of the main characters of the campaign:

- In addition, the characters will gain new titles if they capture new settlements in the island, and the settlement names will change depending on the current owner.

Just some images of the work in progress: the first draft of a splash screen, and a screenshot of the (already outdated, wip) campaign map (it has currently 16 regions with 4 castles and 12 towns).

As can be seen the campaign will be heavily scripted. Some reinforcements may be possible by script, depending on the conditions and results of the campaign.

At the moment the mod team is composed by:
- CeltiberoAlba: original idea, campaign design
- Monkwarrior (CeltiberoRamiroI): development (maps, coding, scripting)
- CeltiberoKarmipoka: historical research, beta testing

I don't know if this kind of military campaign would be interesting for a large number of people. If so, we would translate it to English, as at the moment we are working in Spanish.
