Question 3: What should we use as inspiration for the generic icons a

Q3. What should we use as inspiration for the generic icons at the Org, Medieval TW, shogun TW or a mix of both? (Remember that technically the generic icons work with postcount only).

i see no reason to exclude our past. this site is about the total war series, not one episode of it. are we then going to abandon all the mtw icons when the next sequel hits the retailers?

what if there were an option to follow any given series of total war in the generics; is this possible with the .org forum stuff?

and if such an option doesnt exist, perhaps modifying the post count requirements to half and then mixing both shogun and mtw icons would work. i mean, are we now JUST an mtw site?

I actually hope folks have the option, STW, MTW, or self-made (but of course appropriate, as reviewed by admins/mods). But the question was either-or. There might be bandwidth considerations.

Anything medievil people can dig up. What about heraldry and family coats of arms as they would make suitable icons as well?

M:TW i think is the best choice; but also S:TW should not be forgoten and if nayone wants the old icons let them keep it;

As many of the others have said, if its all or nothing, I suppose we should go Medieval all of the icons. That said, I'm going to personally dearly miss the samurai motiff and will regret having to give up my kabuto... http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif But if we stick with the old icons out of respect for the past, we may wind up alienating the new generations who might think we're primarily a Shogun site.

I sort of like the idea of having a dozen or so generic icons ranging from samurai to mongols to knights for people to choose from irregardless of post count and then you can still have unique icons for the mods, those who have earned special ones through deeds, and those who have spammed their way to greatness. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

This ilooks a one-way argument. I'll close this soon because everyone seems to be in agreement, we should go MTW or nothing.

FasT, it looks more and more apparent the STW servers are down for good.

Plus - this is viewing things rather business-like - but when MTW does come up, I'm betting 90% atleast of the Org patrons will be playing Medievil, and like EA or CA constantly rub us over as the minority(the online community), that might become the same problem at the Sword Dojo.

hhhhmmmm my personal view is that the generic icons should be MTW related. But anyone who has been with us before MTW should have the option to keep their current icon forever like a personal icon.
