Use Alex exe ON Less buggy, better AI.
Enable Fatigue OFF I miss it, but the AI does better.

Use BI exe ON I use this.
Use Alex exe OFF Would like to try it, but don't have Alex unfortunately. :(
Enable Fatigue ON dunno, I'm used to having fatigue so I leave it on
Faster Movement OFF
Land Bridges ON the game is much improved with land bridges imo
Minimal Borders ON brilliant compromise between full vanilla borders and the one-colour ones, I even use this approach for vanilla now.
No Red Line OFF left it off because it messes with vanilla, bit nervous about that
Prometheus Cities OFF the models look very nice, but look way at odds with the vanilla models
Reduced AI Bonuses ON <-- and sometimes I even mod out the bonuses because I like RPing
One Hitpoint System ON still personally prefer the 1-hp system
Enable Loyalty OFF

Use BI exe ON: BI features makes the game much more challenging
Use Alex exe OFF: The slightly better AI doesn't compensate the loss of hording and game variety
Enable Fatigue OFF
Faster Movement OFF
Land Bridges OFF: I would remove the ones that are left I could
Minimal Borders ON Can't stand the old ones now.
No Red Line ON Better screenshots and less temptation to exploit.
Prometheus Cities ON
Reduced AI Bonuses ON and beyond: Can't stand attrition war
One Hitpoint System ON: way less unbalancing
Enable Loyalty ON

Use BI exe - I jump back and forth between exes, but mostly BI for shield wall, schiltrom, and hording.
Use Alex exe - Like I said, I jump back and forth.
Enable Fatigue - I jump back and forth between off and on.
Faster Movement - Consistent with "enable fatigue"
Land Bridges - On.
Minimal Borders - On.
No Red Line - On.
Prometheus Cities - On, but, like Dime, I wish there were eastern and barbarian counterparts.
Reduced AI Bonuses - I jump back and forth, but lately they've been off.
One Hitpoint System - Off. I like longer battles.
Enable Loyalty - Didn't like loyalty in vanilla BI, so I don't like it in XGM. Plus there's that random settlement capture bug I prefer to avoid entirely.

I usually use this combination of install options (H/H level):

Use BI exe ON (as a part of the Gold Edition)
Use Alex exe OFF (I donĀ“t have this expansion)
Enable Fatigue ON
Faster Movement OFF
Land Bridges ON (I like to cross those narrow straits without ships, and AI Factions need them too)
Minimal Borders ON
No Red Line ON
Prometheus Cities ON (occasionally OFF)
Reduced AI Bonuses OFF
One Hitpoint System ON
Enable Loyalty ON

Use BI exe OFF I have crash issues with unmodded BI already
Use Alex exe OFF Don't own Alexander (yet) - hoping for a new TW pack
Enable Fatigue OFF Until I get around to tweaking fatigue values
Faster Movement ON Haven't got the time/patience for slower battles
Land Bridges ON Makes for a more dynamic experience
Minimal Borders ON I think - haven't actually noticed the difference yet
No Red Line OFF To see how far routing units have left to run
Prometheus Cities ON Not that bothered either way
Reduced AI Bonuses ON Will be trying this out soon now I'm getting the hang of things
One Hitpoint System ON Haven't got the time/patience for slower battles
Enable Loyalty ON Hasn't made much of a difference so far

I can't vote in the poll yet.

Anakuj: The AI factions get a bunch of extra economic bonuses. The reduced bonus option means the AI gets less money, which mostly means you face fewer stacks, and the development pace is a bit slower.

By default units have two hitpoints which means that each man has to be hit twice before he dies. That generally produces longer battles, and reduces the effectiveness of ranged weapons. The one hitpoint option plays more like vanilla RTW.

A million thanks for that, noble DimeBagHo, but forgive my ignorance (or maybe I just forgot)--what are Prometheus cities?

Prometheus created new graphics for Roman and Greek cities on the campaign (not battle) map.
