Hello, and welcome to Vanilla Extended Mod. I'm pevergreen, and I'll be your modder for today.

VEM aims to preserve the vanilla game feel, while providing balance and minor historical accuracy, with a future extended map.

To discuss VEM, please navigate to here: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=275 or contact me at pevergreen@pevergreen.com

The other files in this .rar are the startpos.esf and the mod .pack file, containing the changes.

[II]
Installation Guide:

Extract the .pack file and place it in the steam/steamapps/common/empire total war/data folder.
Extract the startpos.esf file and place it in the steam/steamapps/common/empire total war/data/campaigns/main folder. Remember to back up your old startpos.esf first!
Extract the Mod Manager folder anywhere of your choosing.

To play Vanilla Extended mod, run the .exe file in the Mod Manager folder, and uncheck the box labeled: "Show all pack types". Then make sure the box next to "Vanilla Extended Mod" is checked, then click launch!
Note: This mod may interefere with multiplayer. To avoid any conflicts, uncheck the box before you launch Empire: Total War.

Do the minor factions still have the bug issues (eg: crashing when a faction emerges)?

Not sure, I'm on holiday, I only pushed that out because I can't access the internet much here.

They never did.

But campaigns as New Spain, Louisiana, or the 13 Colonies would crash when they would be incorporated with their mother countries. This has been resolved with a small mod, but even then, their diplomacy's a bit messed; sometimes the option to establish alliances in diplomatic propositions is missing, as if they were still a protectorate even after declaring war on their mother countries. All the other minor factions are fine, though.

Quick question, seeming minor factions don't have objectives of their own is it actually possible to win as a minor faction?

yeah I hate that too (and the random FOW swallowing my empire) since i almost always play Prestige games and can't see how well I am doing

I hate winning games, it just seems unrealistic, like blitzing. It's much more fun to RP the games, but in that case, I wish our family members were able to become characters on the campaign map and fight as generals, etc.

i like being able to compare the prestige of my rivals

I will be adding victory conditions for them in time.

That is, of course, if someone can help me out with what they should be. :sweatdrop:

I started a game as Portugal with the mod. A couple of bugs I noticed.

- At my trading ports, there are two options for sloops and brigs to be build. Look like a clone with no difference.
- It didn't start in the year 1680, just the normal 1700.

Thank you for reporting those, I'll take a look at the portugal thing, but I havent changed anything to do with recruitment.

Bummer about the year not working.

Hey pevergreen, I took screen-shots, might be more useful.

When selecting the factions (they seem to work fine on the select) it does state it is to start at 1680.

However ingame, it is the 1700 starting.

For the portugal ships, not sure if it was a minor faction bug or something, I don't know. But hopefully you can see in the select in this picture, the clone of Brig and Sloop choice.

If you need me to do any other screen shots of anything in particular, just say and I will fetch them for you.

Could you check if the duplication happens with other factions?

Thanks for the work so far.

Being honest haven't checked every faction, but it seems to be limited to a few of the minor factions which were unlocked (Including Portugal). Courtland and a few others were fine.

There is a bug with noficiations, for example with Portugal (I played a campaign game with them, hence they are said alot) never received faction destroyed on people I conquered.

Pevergreen, will you release a new patch soon after the update?

pevergreen
04-28-2009, 08:34
As long as I know when the update happens (steam should let me know) I should be able to throw a few hours at it.

I think for VC, the Papal States (Italian States) should conquer all of Italy, Corsica, Sicilly and Venice. And maybe as a throw back to M2TW, take over the Holy Lands as well.

Trying to hold Jerusuelm should be interesting since the Ottomans will have you surrounded and Corsica shouldn't be too hard since once you take it France will never try to take it back due to lack of naval invasions. Although I'm sure they will wreak havoc on trade.

If your playing any other Italian faction, the VC should be similiar, minus the Holy Lands.

ok pevergreen, i think i've found a bug-since the last patch (i think-i haven't played for a week), none of my cities have been giving any tax income. This happened with both portugal and the marathas, and on both a saved and a new game. Obviously this is a bit of a nuisance. Trade and other income is normal, the cities aren't tax exempt, tax levels are normal etc. Also, this isn't occuring on the vanilla version.
If anybody could give any advice as to how to fix this, it would be much appreciated.

This version has not been tested with the new patch. It was noted that the startpos.esf was changed. I'll have to redo quite a lot of this from scratch.

Just out of curiosity, any progress with the new patch? Have you got any idea how long it will take?

pevergreen

Hrmmm. not really sure, but probably a while.

Got quite a lot on right now. :/ Plus having to redo everything is a pain.
