The min requirements for NTW state 2.3 Ghz.

Unfortunately my rig is only 2.2 Ghz.

This may be a stupid question but if I buy the game will the installation just fail or will I still be able to play the game on the understanding that I need to be prepared to play at the lowest graphical settings, or just the campaign, etc?

Actually I didn’t even look until you posted.

My machine is a 2.16 GHz and it seems to be running just fine on high settings...

2.3 GHz = single core. If you have a double core with a lower clock speed it will run NTW.

So where does that leave me with 2.2Ghz single core?

:sad2:

That is a good question.

If you don't have the game, I would consider long and hard before I bought it.

If you do have it, or if it is coming, than all you can do is load it and see if it works.

Not a very satisfactory answer, I know.

It is either that or a new processors and mother board.

Well I haven't bought it yet so I guess I'll just hold off for now

Yeah, you might want to get something more powerful. CA really need to release a small demo. NTW specs are noticable lower than ETW.

I know this laptop was underspec'd in the graphics and memory department, and it was able to allow me to conquer half of Italy. I gave up after that though, as it was a pain to run.

I have an under spec machine -
AMD 3200+ single core @2Ghz an ATI 1950pro (512 AGP) and 2 gig of ddr and the game runs fine.
All graphics settings are on high except for shadows which I turn off and grass I have on low, unit size is on Large.
The only performance issues I have is the sound on the intro movies stutters and the map is a bit laggy every now then but nothing like ETW.
Hope that's of some help

Well, that's encouraging. E:TW stutters like my uncle but hopefully N:TW will run better. My specs are:

AMD 64 X2 Dual core 6000+ 3.01 Ghz, 2GB Ram and an ASUS EAH4650 series GFX card (512mb)

So, fingers crossed.

How about the internet connectivity requirement?
I know that it is necessary to install/update so that the Steam servers can be accessed, but if I am traveling and want to play single-player and am not in a place where I can access broadband will I be able to start a game without any internet access 100% of the time? How about if I have access to dial-up?
Thanks.

Then at some time when you are connected set Steam to Off Line Mode.

Then you can play without a connection. Unfortunately you have to be connected at the time you set it to off line but after that it is fine but it may ask you from time to time if you want to go on line. Just say no.

Oh! And Branden, if you get shutters in a battle with NTW you are sitting near a cannon.
