Hello Everyone,
After having looked through several articles and books and websites concerning the time period, I believe that a Mycenaean era mod for RTW would be rather entertaining and fun. I am posting this on here because I have begun formulating plans for a Modification of this time frame and I want to know what the public opinion on such a mod would be and if anyone is willing to help me with the mod. I have a Map in mind covering just about this area
http://www.cedarville.edu/resource/education/schools/chca/othergrades/greecetd/map1.gif
And Several unit Ideas are in the works but are definitely subject to change. History is far from anywhere to being close to done, so historians are greatly needed at this point if this mod is to start. Especially specialists in the time period and people with extensive knowledge concerning Greek and Mycenaean-Greek. Someone who has some knowledge concerning Linear B would also be greatly appreciated but isn't strictly necessary. A list of Mycenaean strongholds is also being worked on, but so far we only have:
Mycenae
Tiryns
Pylos
Athens
Thebes
Orchomenus
Iolkos
Argos
Knossos
Troy
Ithaca
And Maybe Sparta
Of course this too is verrry WIP as city names will be respectively native to their lands. Same goes for most names in the game
While I will need Skinners and mappers, most needed right now are historians. But if you are a skinner or mapper and are interested, just post on here or send me a PM and I'll see if we have anything for you to do. Mappers will be needed sooner then any skinners but it really doesn't matter. Another necessity is 2d artists as I possess limited skill in such things.

One plan for the mod is to change the battle map. The cities of RTW will not do historically for TW:AoM as Mycenaean cities were in fact large palaces built on a hill with large walls around it and little houses and huts scattered around the palace/citadel. To represent this, of course, will require someone with the knowledge to edit things like this. If you can, I would greatly appreciate your help.

So finally, I will stop talking and allow you all to comment on whether or not this is a legit idea or not. If you want to help and you have skill please fill out this form in the more info box and send it to me in a pm and post it on here. If you want to join it is prefered that you join the .Org and TWC together as this will expand out options Thanks ahead if you can or if you like the idea. I'm sure this isn't everyones cup of tea but I find it rather interesting.

Name: (Forum name for the Org and TWC)
A little about yourself: (Kind self explantory)
What Modding Skills you possess: ( Again....read the title)

For factions, I was kinda waiting till I had a better list of cities present in the time frame. But I have done some thinking about that, I do have a few factions. As most factions will be based on individual Citadels there will be many factions that in history would be non-important in history but as the region is smallier it isn't a problem. So far for factions I have:

Mukānai (Still trying to figure out if they dominated Argos [Not likely] and Tiryns)
Minoan Cretans
Athenai
Sparte
Pylos
Iolcos
Gla
Orchomenus
Thebes
Ithika
Troia
Various states in Anatolia/Cyprus and other islands
I'm debating incorporating the Hittites as they would not be represented fully and thus not accuratly. I'll need input from people from this as this is a major issue

Hello,
I'm am here today to present the modelling progress on the first model for Total War: Age of Mukanai just so you know that some work is beign done
Here is the modelling progress on the Mukanai Nobles

Mukanai Nobles:
This is the man who will be the officer in most foot Mukanai units, and a more elaborate form will be used for the Mukanai General. And before any one says that he can't be a foot unit cause of the Panoply, I am using the reconstruction that makes foot soldiers able to use the armor. Many people suggest that this armor would have been impossible to move around in and would only be suitable for chariot combat but I have seen several reconstructions that show the armor as mobile. Read this website if you want clarification: http://www.salimbeti.com/micenei/armour1.htm

Any how here is my progress. It still needs fine detailing and cleaning and hasn't been finished in the modelling department as it is missing a collar and shoulder guards, but it is a start. Here you go:

And here it is without lines:

Yo, still working on this mod? Because I happen to be an expert in the Aegean Bronze Age.

I don't what's happened since 2010, this thread hasn't been updated in a while, maybe you've abandoned the project in the meantime. I don't know.

What I do know is if you do wish to include Minoan Crete as a faction, the year should probably be 1600 BC or so. At about this time the Mycenaean Koine was just beginning to develop Palace-type centers and Minoan culture was beginning to influence the Hellenic speakers, and the Minoans were most likely still under native dominion as opposed to possessing a Mycenaean elite. What the map should look like around this time, the Mycenaean factions should be confined to one or two initial provinces (maybe Mycenae has two, as it is suggested that Tiryns was under the dominion of Mycenae for a long while, but perhaps at 1600 BC Tiryns and Mycenae could start out as allies and later a government reform thingy could be implemented that brings Tiryns or Mycenae under your control depending on if you play as one of the two), while the Minoans start out controlling Crete, Thera, and perhaps Kythera as possible Minoan colonization if not influence has been found there in addition to Thera.

The Mycenaean factions might start out with little in the way of heavy troops or cultural buildings but what I would wish to see happen is a set of (voluntary) reforms that introduce Minoan concepts into the mainland, thus making available more building and troop options, similarly to how the Mycenaeans adopted many Minoan practices in real life. Of course, some buildings would be culturally specific, such as Tholos tombs (Public order bonus due to law?) and for the Minoans, mountain temple-shrines (public order bonus due to happiness?).

Anyway, hope you're still working on this and if not, best of luck in future modding endeavours.
