View Full Version : Caesar In Gaul (Historian Needed!)

Like most of you I to found the remnants of this campaign that CA had left unfinished. I know that the 58bc mod covered part of this story, but it has always caught my imagination.

So I thought I would have a go at making a map and maybe later might make a mini-mod or something.

Anyway I have made a map using the BHD sat data method so its pretty topographically accurate. Its not crazy big, otherwise you'd never get around it in time (its aprox x4 the size of gaul in vanilla or EB)

The problem is with the regions, Ive looked at some maps and such but I'm finding it hard going. Having not read Caesars account of the gallic campaigns I'm relying on Wiki's for information, so I'm not sure how accurate it is.

If there are any historians out there who are familiar with this period in history, I would appreciate any input as to additional settlements that should be included (particularly in Germania, and Britainnia as I have found very little). Or suggestions as to which gallic tribes should occupy which settlements.

Hope some one can help, thanks in advance :laugh4:

I am afraid the interest in R:TW mods has waned, apart from a few long-running total-conversion projects. If you want to go through with this, you could ask the people working on those. IIRC Power2the1 (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/member.php?26877-Power2the1) is the current Celtic FC of the Europa Barbarorum (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?126717-Preview-The-Boii) mod. There is also Rome: Total Realism (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=26), but I do not know who their Celtic specialist is.

Wikipedia is more reliable than people think, don't let the preconceived myths fool you. :antlers:

Maybe on this site. You will find elsewhere that the interest still runs strong.

Hey, Hannibal... I just read ur post. Do u still need a historian? It just so happens that I am reading De Bello Gallico right now. If there is any particular thing that you want stuff on... please lemme know. I kinda read what you were looking for, but because I am seeing your post so late, I want to be sure what it is that you still need so I could double check my facts before letting you know.
