Sakura is a modification for Total War: Shogun 2 featured title from Sega and Creative assembly

The mod´s main aim is for historical accuracy and to create enhanced campaing and battle experience, while getting rid of fantasy elements.

Longer term goals include making as many factions playable as possible.

Possibly changes to the map

Incorporating more correct heraldry for each Clan.

Minor Tweaking here and there.

The modification is looking for possible modellers, skinners, coders and historians who can read Japanese as if we want to get really close to authenticy. English sources are already exhausted.

The aim is not for re making the game completely, but maximizing historical accuracy, while maintaining a geat totalwar experince.

If you want to join or support the project. Please do so here in this thread or private message yours truly.

Humbly,

Kagemusha

I'm on this, no doubt.
Looking forward to many heated history discussions and so forth ;)

Some changes I'd like to add to Shogun2:

-Give all spear-units longer spears.
-Fix all spear-units to always fight with spears.
-Remove all non-polearms melee units (with the possible exception of nodachi samurai, to be used as locked garrison units)
-Add special companies tied to clans/localities to supplement unit variety, rather than various fantasy-weapons.

-Make horse-models MUCH smaller.
-Make cavalry less decisive, only effective in flanking/charging home.
-Give cavalry the role as dragoons and scouts foremost, edit their stats to reflect this.
-Cross fingers and hope BAI is able to adopt.

-Reskin/model battlefield ninja, change their name.
-Give battlefield ninja different role, like snipers and such.

etc...
Well I guess we'll talk about all this stuff ;)

Are you considering increasing the amount of specialities in order to further diversify the provinces?

They have pure spear fighting animations from the Yari cav if you want to look at that.

I look forward to seeing, and perhaps, playing, what your artistic creativities produce! :)

How modifiable is S2TW? Do you know as of yet? Would it be as moddable as RTW and M2TW? If so I suppose the possibilites would be endless! I am kind of excited about this project you are working on! :beatnik:

In the modworkshop i have posted some of the tools for modding TWS2. There has been huge amount of success lately with work on tools. The main text files for TWS2 are the DB tables. Once all of them are correctly parsed and hopefully embedded to the PFM manager tool.Modding TWS 2 should be quite easy, text wise. There are still large problems considering if the map can be modified, but the models and textures seem moddable. To another matter.I have updated the first post concerning our first release in the first post and added the team list.

Any hope of getting Sakura back on track? Some of the goals stated also seem unattainable, such as all factions playable, due to the DLC. Have you tried the TWC? They have a lot of modders there.

I'm sure he has, considering the mod idea has been posted there longer than here.

I'm still interested however in a deeper historical Campaign, so I wish you guys the best of luck.

Like WIS said before there are quite numerous problems right now concerning modding of the game. What actually can be done.

With the new modding tools released by CA, do you think that you will be able to restart this mod?

The tools released are for ETW/ NTW, so their usefulness is marginal at best. The main problems still remain for our modification. We would like to create an historically accurate modification, with increased number of playable clans and make changes to the map. This cant be done. The map cant be radically changed. THE DLC policy makes it impossible and more or less lawless to even try and make factions playable and since we cant manipulate the factions, the main things we would like to do are more or less out from our reach.
These factors make it impossible for us to do anything right now. Nevertheless i think TW2S is best thing created by CA in long time and i throughoutly enjoy this game, we just cant modify it further like we would have wanted.
