How do I download this?

You mean the attached files?

Simply click on it, a window pops, where you must choose "save file", and then it goes into your default download folder of your system.

it confusing

Why? What's the problem?

It is one of the oldest methods especially in game forums to offer small files. If you will stay longer in modding forums, you'll experience attachments in posts all along the way.

Ok.So here's the thing I have now

Ok ... i have not winzip installed. The easiest way would be to catch up 7zip from the net (google search), a free excellent program, install it, needs seconds.

Afterwards it should go exactly like i described above and in the 1st post: click on the attachment, save it to your download folder, decompress it in example with right-click context menu "extract here", copy&paiste the S2R+.pack file into the data folder of your shogun 2.

No, no ... something is wrong then.

If you have downloaded it, it must be a .zip file, verify that.

This .zip file, right-click, then choose extract here, you must get a normal folder with the S2R+.pack file and a readme.txt.

I cannot help here more as what i have written now, sorry.

Edit: If you run Vista or Win 7, make sure you are allowed to dl and open files, ie. with admin rights, just in case you have restrictions in place.

EDIT

...but when I try to extract it says it exists already.
Then try to look harder.
Or remove all the dl stuff, and dl again, and perhaps you can determine the dl location, then really, right-click the .zip file, use 7zip, "extract here", then you must get the folder calling Shogun2Realism+ with the included files. Maybe you using the onboard-windows-unzipper, which is imo. bugged, do not use the onboard zip-tool of windows.

What's that? Double S2R+.pack?

Remove all the dl stuff, go again for the dl, and repeat the process (until you have learned it ...), but avoid to dl the same file twice to the same location, and if you do that, overwrite it ( i guess you refused to overwrite as the system asked it).

If you have done that a few times and understood it, you will think "damn, how easy".
The whole dl and install process needs max 2 minutes with such small files, and if you know where your Shogun 2 data folder is.

Extracting to ‘’C:\Users\user7\Downloads\Shogun2Realism+_1.4.1.zip\’’
Use Path:yes Overlay Files:no
C:\Users\user 7\Downloads\Shogun2Realism+_1.4.1.zip exists but is not directory
Unable to process C:\Users\user 7\Downlpads\Shogun2Reaslim+_1.4.1.zip\Shogun2Realism+\S2R+pack.

Here's what I got when I extracted.

Would you please look at the 1st post, as written above. Also, the word "please" should be used sometimes.

Else, i cannot install the mod for you, sorry.

I made now already 5 posts trying to help you, that's enough imo. in this thread which shall go in majority about the mod content.

But i guess (or hope) you'll figure it out some time in future how it goes :)

Maybe you can also find help in a general tech forum section, i don't know (the principles are always the same or at least repeat, to dl and install a mod, especially for ETW, NTW and now S2TW).

I have never downloaded a mod before.

I don't get the techinal stuff of the computers, takes me a long time to get used to things.

DaVinci

That's hard, of course.

In case you get the S2R+.pack file ready to copy/paiste, then you need to find this

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\total war shogun 2\data

The red part is an example, it might call slightly different in your system. Everything else should be the exact path also for your system.

Put the S2R+.pack file into this data folder, and ready. Start the game as usually.

Same goes for compatible additional mods, most S2 mods use the so-called movie format which means they work instantly if added to the data folder.

Edit: ... and it doesn't damage your original game files, just uninstall any of such mod files (if you do not like them) with deleting the added file from the data folder, but only them, not touch any of the original data files (so you always should know exactly, which are modfiles, and which not).

Try this.

Create new folder on desktop; save the download to this folder (New Folder)

Inside the folder on desktop create a new folder; direct whatever unpacker you use to unzip into New Folder 2

Inside New Folder 2 is a readme and a .pack file; right click the .pack => copy; open Steam folder => open
SteamApps folder=> open common folder => open total war shogun 2 folder => open data folder => right click somewhere clear and select paste.

This is under WinXP btw

@Takeda
Yes look at Hop's post as well ... while terms like "unpack", "unzip", "unrar", "decompress", "extract" all mean the same here. Just in case you read them somewhere in future.

Marshall Louis-Nicolas Davout

eh?

I'll try,see whats comes out of it.

DaVinci

Did you find the data folder of Shogun 2 ?

If so, try the following:

When you have dl'ed the .zip file, paiste that into the data folder, then right-click it there, and do "Extract Here" (with the 7zip or Winzip application which is listed in the context menu via right-click).

Afterwards you have the S2R+ folder in the data folder.
Now simply open this folder,
copy (or cut) the S2R+.pack,
close the folder,
and back to the data folder,
paiste the .pack file.,
it is now in the data folder.

You can start the game as usually. Install is ready.

(If you want, you can then remove or move the S2R+ folder out of the data folder, it makes no sense to have the folder there, just store it away to a location outside of the Steam folder).

Do you need the main game to play this mod?

04-21-2011, 14:32
Hello Takeda Shogunate!

Yes you need the main game Shogun2 how else should work without the mods Shogun2 main game.
Unless you mean S2R + as the main game, then you will need it when you want it to play S2R +.
Otherwise you can use this sub-mods without S2R + play.

All posts above are moved ones.

Comment: Takeda S is a complete newby to mod installations, so don't take his posts really into account, if you are not a mod-newby, skip them all.

---

Else, as for installation, look into the sticky release & download thread, follow its instructions and infos (also the dl-file itself includes an install instruction within a readme file).
The installation (and deinstallation) is normally very easy.

If you still have then any issues, report them here, help will come asap.

Hm basicly, you need to have S2 patched to the latest version by CA via Steam. And question, do you have purchased/installed the Jidai DLC units?

And i guess you run the "Extended Campaign" mod as you write in the other thread? Remove that! As i said already in the other thread, i don't know if this can work parallel, i guess not.
Edit: *Thinking about it a second more* - No, it can't work with this mod on S2R+!

Else, if this removal doesn't work to solve the crash, go into the roaming folder (where the preferences file is), and delete the battle_preferences file.

Generally: Please check all according hints in the release thread, ie. under "Relevant Notes", if you have issues to run the mod after CA's patch updates.

Bold: What is this?

However ... vanilla stats? Then your installation is somehow wrong. Please read the installation instructions of the release thread.

At best, remove all mods incl. perhaps your user.script (if you have one), run vanilla, look if it runs properly.
Then install S2R+ along the instruction, look if it runs properly.
Afterwards install your prefered (but hopefully) compatible other mods.

3444 ver would be Patch 6. I have deleted all other mods and the scripts, I have also tried to reinstall and re update the game but it dont work.
Perhaps the problem is that I dont have the recent patch which is "patch 7" i think.

Well I have reverted back to S2R 4.00 it works perfectly.

I guess I have to wait until I find a Patch 7 before I could enjoy using your mod.

Yes, that is the case. You need to have CA's patch7 installed.
The TWS2 game updates itself, when you start Steam online automatically.
The successful update is easily viewable in your data folder: Is there a patch7 pack file?

Well I have reverted back to S2R 4.00 it works perfectly.

Just some notes:
It's not S2R v4.00, it's S2R v0.400.
The normal S2R is very different to S2R+, the older/normal S2R is so to say a mere light mod version, and S2R+ is the very extended mod version.

Help Please. I am now updated to Patch 7 and able to play the sengoku jidai units in vanilla, however when I place S2R+2.6 mod in the data folder and deleted the scripts the game crashes on boot. what am I doing wrong? I really want to be able to play your mod.

--note... I have only s2r+2.6, and no other mods.

Check the release thread "Relevant Notes", second last point.

And, if your game is updated via Steam, then you must have patch8.pack as well.

GShock

Remove all mods, verify integrity of files with steam then put in the Sr2 mod, it's ONE file and you should be good to go.
