The rules you can expect:

The map will feature provinces. The movement rate is one province per turn. One turn is equal to a month in-game, no matter the time IRL.

The recruitment list is as follows:

Militia Brigade - 5,000
Infantry Brigade - 4,000
Guard Infantry Brigade - 2,000 - Max of 5 Units

Light Cavalry Brigade - 1,000
Heavy Cavalry Brigade - 800
Guard Cavalry Brigade - 500 - Max of 5 Units

Light Artillery Battery - 120 + 12 Guns
Howitzer Battery - 100 + 10 Guns
Heavy Artillery Battery - 80 + 8 Guns - Max of 5 Units

And as a concept from the TWC IHs, the following Battalions that can be attached to Brigades;

Skirmisher Battalion - 500 - Attachable to Infantry only
Grenadier Battalion - 500 - Attachable to Infantry only

Dragoon Battalion - 200 - Attachable to Cavalry only
Horse Artillery Battery - 60 + 6 Guns - Attachable to Cavalry only

Artillery, though a small unit, counts as a Brigade, with the exception of Horse Artillery. Therefore, a sample Army could look like:
I. Infantry/Skirmishers
II. Infantry/Skirmishers
III. Infantry/Grenadiers
I. Light Cavalry/Dragoons
II. Light Cavalry/Horse Artillery

and so on and so forth.

4 Brigades make a Division.
3 Divisions make a Corps.
An Army can be made of however many Corps you want.

The starting year will be in 1805, based off of this map:

Players:
Austria: Warman
Great Britain: Fisherking
Russia: Kagemusha
Prussia: Azunti
Sweden: Mr. Stuka
Spain: Franconicus

So the size of our forces would be akin to a Corps? Will this one also have two sides of players?

Vladimir Fred-nin

No, no, each person plays a nation. And your forces are NOT akin to the size of a Corps, that was merely an example. ;)

Each nation will have a "Soldier Limit", similar to the ACW IH, which displays how many men they can have at one time, and, like the ACW IH, show how many more men they can recruit.

I will try Great Britain.

I will take Russia.

Azunti

Im in, sign me up for whatever.

Vladimir Fred-nin
07-22-2011, 23:31
@Azunti: Would you prefer Prussia or France?

Azunti
07-23-2011, 13:01
Probably Prussia. lol. Im a fan of France but that may be a bit much for me since Im just starting out.

Vladimir Fred-nin

Alright, that's fine then.

If nobody signs up for france soon, I'll just control them as a NPC.

Fisherking

I think we need a France and Spain. It would be ok if one were a NPC but I don’t know how it would come off with both.

Many people are off line on the weekends. Maybe we could wait a few days to see who else comes in.

Franconicus

Alright, I pick up Spain, if I can get a human partner for France!

Mr. Stuka
07-23-2011, 23:40
Hmm are there any other countries I could play besides France? Perhaps them (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingdom_of_Italy_%28Napoleonic%29)?

Yeah, I see what you mean. Good call.

So you're giving up Britain, then?

Who, Sweden? Yeah, they're available.

Alright, added you.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask over the course of this week, I hope to start this by early august if not sooner.

Britain? I thought this was played by Fisherking?

Fisherking

All of us green guys look a like.

He is likely confused by the F names.

Fisherking

As to questions, what about fleets?

Blockades and navies were an important part of the wars.

Will they play a part or just be notional?

Vladimir Fred-nin
07-24-2011, 17:18
I'm not really good with Naval stuff so it won't really be counted.

And whoops, yeah, I was confused by the "F" names. Sorry. :P

Any other questions?

Franconicus

Yes!
Is this just military with fixed coalitions or are we free in diplomacy?

What about neutral countries? Are there any other forces than others?

How important is moral and supply? Do soldiers have the same skills regardless their nationality?

Pretty much just fixed coalitions, that's the way it happened in History, although you *could* liberate countries and have them join your side(example: You free Magdeburg from the clutches of the French, they become an ally, possibly donate troops to your army, etc.)

What about neutral countries? Are there any other forces than others?
At this time the only actual neutral country in any way was the Ottoman Empire, and I'm not going to be making a special unit list for them as they didn't likely use Grenadiers or Dragoons :P

I was actually thinking of implementing a "Supply line" feature into the game, though that might make it more complicated than it needs to be. I'll let all of you decide if you would want such a feature, though. ;)

Bad news for me. My machine is basically shot.

The hard drive is going and the Video card too. I am at the mercy of my wife and her I-phone and this stuff won’t be fixed until the 23rd or so.

Vladimir Fred-nin
08-06-2011, 01:57
Sorry to hear that, mate. :(

On the bright side, I was kinda looking for a reason to postpone this, I'm gonna be busy the next 2-3 weeks, and my computer got a virus which required me to wipe everything I had on it(INCLUDING the map >.>), so I'll start it sometime in September, maybe? :)

Okay! So, I am thinking, instead of hosting a Napoleonic IH...How about a WWI IH?

ELITEofWARMANGINGERYBREADMEN88
08-14-2011, 00:15
Sure.

Kagemusha
08-18-2011, 16:27
Im not huge fan of WWI as the tactics involved are pretty much non existant compared to for example Napoleonic warfare. Not much fun in trench warfare.
If the problem is that there is no volunteer for France.I can take France and some other can have Russia.

Vladimir Fred-nin
08-19-2011, 17:15
Ah, but see, this is 1900, not 1914. Napoleonic Warfare and Mobility were still used quite well, and there will be no trenches unless players ask for them. Mainly, it will be maneuvering.
