A Byzantine diplomat has arrived. He claims to bear peace terms from the Basileus and wishes to speak to you privately.

OOC: I need to resolve this before I can post the turn because the diplomacy scroll needs it's answer.

Turn 16 News:
Minor nobility have promised to raise troops in support of the war effort if the port of Alexandria were to be blockaded.

The last in the line of the Moorish Sultans has been killed, and that the Moors remaining lands have fallen into turmoil.

The Sicilian King Ferrente has died, and is now replaced by King Alfonso, who has lead the Sicilian invasion of Greece.

Peace has been signed with the Byzantine Empire, with them agreeing to limit border garrisons and paying a hefty tribute.

Most disturbingly, news has arrived that Rome itself has been sacked and that the Pope himself was captured and subsequently hung from the walls. The Holy Roman forces responsible then lit fire to the city and abandoned it.

The new Pope Honorius XVII has declared a Holy Crusade against the Holy Roman Empire.
OOC: Players may join the crusade, but must still pay upkeep for units involved. Please note the upkeep of any units joining before pressing the button, as it will display 0 after you do. Additionally, all units incur a 100 florin increase in upkeep while on crusade in foreign lands, due to the expense of providing food for troops without proper supply trains. If an army moves less than half its speed this cost may be ignored as troops have sufficient time to "gather" supplies from the countryside. (note that this may be upsetting to allies if done within their land) These rules are experimental, and are up for debate and/or change.
