The unmaking of Carthage

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-m4IJ0wEtt4

A talk with Lusted, lead unit designer, about Carthage and some of Rome II's new features.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gfLvp-uczkY

Most interesting things said:
a player will be able to control up to 40 units of combined land and naval forces in a single battle.
Tactical map will not allow one to give orders, but simply a better overview of the battle.
Siege battles will be more rare and be decided by controlling of multiple points.
Barbarians are up next

In the first video it's very clear everyone involved got a script. I wonder to what extent this was true for the second vid.

Also I took some screens from the barbarians they showed (thumbnails):

Ah, return of the fantasy 'barbarians'. That is what I was afraid of.

I think those could be strat map characters, I don't know why but they somehow look like them to me. Perhaps a shot of barbarian spies and a diplomat?

The new sieges look entirely epic and really fleshed out compared to the current games.

Sieges should only be won when the defenders surrender or die (or possibly drop below both a minimum number and a certain troop ratio). There also should not be a time limit to the battles. That would be much more realistic and make the battles less of dancing around and more decisive.

you can turn time limits on or off. technically i agree there shouldnt be a timelimit but i usually keep it on because sometimes stuff bugs up or goes into some kind of stalemate and then u really wish there was a timer :P

and technically by taking these keypoints you force the defenders to surrender. if you siege a city, attack and take the walls, the plaza and whatever important point and hold it for a certain time (probably a similar timer like in rtw) then you should win the battle, the defenders dont have something left to fight for.
