Hey guys, good evening, so as far as we knew, everyone was expecting the release date to be sometime in october, but i have just checked amazon uk and they announced the release date as 31st of december. Any ideas? Can anyone confirm whether thats the official release date? Or is it just speculation?

The October release thing is based on secondary materials, such as tie-in novels (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/372420/rome-2-total-war-releasing-october-2013-report/) and so forth. Publishers lock in their schedules in advance, and all of the materials related to Rome 2 appear to be landing in October.

Does that mean that the game couldn't get bumped to December? It does not. But the marketing and ancillary materials suggest October as the planned time.

Means nothing as retailer dates are not at all official and we've seen them change constantly.

I would prefer they take there time and release it when its ready than rush it. In the mean time I have plenty of other Total Wars to be playing around with.

I've attempted to not think about Rome II because I know as soon as there's a release date, it'll seem longer till it is released. Personally I agree with Tsavong, I hope they take their time and make it the best total war they've made yet, rather than rushing themselves on a fixed release date.

Well thats what i hope for as well but it seems to me that they will push for a xmass release date to push the sales up as usual. I just hooe that we dont end up with a game full of bugs....

I wish it was that soon, but it's highly unlikely. Pretty common of retailers to set expected dates around fiscal quarters. In this case early July being the beginning of the Fourth Quarter.

Also your screenshot says released on January 1, 0001. That's hilarious.

Why would they release it this early when they keep saying what an early stage of development they are in? That has to be a mistake.

I really, truly would not get too worked up about Amazon's estimated shipping date.

As stated previously, the publishing materials and tie-in books are slated for October. So October is a very safe bet.

This will be a long summer.

I will re-iterate what I said above. It will be released in October at the earliest. Don't put any stock in retailer dates.

NTW was a standalone expansion, rather than a full blown game.

If RII is modder friendly I'll get the collectors edition... Else I will wait for the bargain bin release... with the patch that stops AI generals charging out in front which happened in 80% of TW games to date.

Yeah, that is the big clincher for me too. Which is why I really dislike them holding 3 factions hostage to you buying without knowing what you are getting.

Early purchasers, particularly collectors, could be used as Beta testers. For instance early access to test the MP servers.

I'd prefer factions to be unlockable by skill, with pay for early access if you want it quicker.

I'd prefer to see factions unlocked by cut-and-paste :p (Like RomeI)
