These are very nice, thanks :)

I love that this is pretty much the same as RTR/EB maps
The East is quite disproportionately squished/the West oversized but thats a small price to pay for the greater regional gameplay from doing the East right.

Am disappointed that the Seleukids are so-far missing.
I guess there are a good 15-20 factions to come via DLC. Normally I'm not a big fan but if they get a decent fleshing out with appropriate extra details (& wonders) I may actually be happy to buy them.

They could have done a little effort to make it somewhat historically correct. Sigh, if they don't want to spend too long on that okay, but this is plain silly in a lot, too many in matter of fact, of cases.

I wonder if they're doing anything with sea regions.

Does that mean that the campaign map for Rome II is going to be more map-like and that they are moving away again from the 3D landscape they had in S2TW?

Would not be a bad thing, in my opinion. I always found the S2TW 3D freely rotatable map too much of a resource-eater for too little actual gain. I found that I hardly ever used the rotation feature at all.

Edit:
Never mind, the "First Campaign Footage" thread has answerd my question.

Same? The choice of projection on its own will make it quite a different experience from, say, EB -- simply because the distances and directions are all different.

I think the Seleucids are setup to fail. Meant to delay upstarts, but ultimately crumble. Not a faction meant to be much fun playing as, because each client kingdom is basically an upstart enemy waiting to stab you in the back -- I don't think diplomacy and recruitment have advanced to a point where you can do real, genuine, internal power politics with those yet. Additionally, their starting position is somewhat dubious, on numerous fronts. For example the city of Seleucia itself is apparently not under Seleucid control...

Raeti are Celtic, Massalia are Gauls, the Insubres are Italians and the Sequani and Nervii are German?

Also the symbol for the Nori is a Celtiberian torque and the Helvetti symbol is from a carnyx discovered in Scotland.
