Don't get your hopes up too far!

But I may have a limited server up soon for Shogun - Gold Edition currently sold on Steam.

The proof will be in the testing.

I need some folks who have the Steam STW Gold Edition willing to give it a try.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War Shogun 1 Gold

drag Internet CFG File into Notepad - it should currently read:

ChatserverIPAddress = daphne.eagames.co.uk
ChatserverPort = 8794
NewsserverIPAddress = daphne.eagames.co.uk
NewsserverPort = 8797

change to and Save:

ChatserverIPAddress = shogungold.servegame.com
ChatserverPort = 8794
NewsserverIPAddress = shogungold.servegame.com
NewsserverPort = 8797

you will also need to open and check both of the above ports for both TCP and UDP:

Please post below if you are open to testing so we can set up a time.

I am not yet ready to do battle yet (old guy) but want to check this out ahead of that.

Thanks in advance :bow:

Just a note on what I am trying to resurrect here with a Shogun Gold server.

We used to call it Samurai Sunday. For a few hours on Sunday afternoons peeps who wanted to play the old game (even at that time it was old) would get together and have at it! We could almost always manage four or more players, first playing the original game, then on a moded samurai version of Medieval, both on fake servers. To encourage folks to come check us out I started tracking the wins and published them weekly. This eventually lead to two major endeavors which were celebrated as Multiplayer Mini Campaigns I&II (see results below). It was all for fun, and for some time enjoyed by all.

There were some problems as with anything. The MTW Samurai Warlords version of the game was great, but had many patch and moded components, plus many had problems getting their connections working properly. With the Shogun Gold Edition collection sold by Steam, everything is bundled up in one inexpensive game. And with the help of Port Forward Network Utilities, router setups and verifications are a breeze.

My hope is that the original Shogun fire still burns in the hearts of a few Org samurai, and that with the improvements mentioned, we might be able to again enjoy this relatively simple game, that allows the complexity to be in the skill of the players. Salute!
