I have yet to try MP, and my question is regarding what you need to actually play it. I know my computer can handle it (Pentium 2.53 GHz, 512 DDR, and 64M GeForce 4) but i only have 56k modem. So do you in reality need broadband or can a fast computer make up for this?

Nerves of steel, a lot of patience and a cool name http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif
Dont know, I think you handle up to 2 vs 2 , not sure, only one way to find out ey ? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif.
I am on 56k, back on STW I couldn't handle 2v2 (had a 700 and appropriate supporting hardware) because of the modem speed, 1v1 was OK - but I couldn't trust myself in 2v2 not to go out of synch...
but go for it - 1v1 and (if you are lucky, some people manage it) 2v2 are great fun...but as mith says - you need a cool name http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Konnichiwa,
It should be fine. A lot of players used 56k with STW (some even 33k). MTW has a much better 'networkcode'.

well, 56k isnt really 56k to begin with, but, if you can more or less sustain a throughput of about 33.3k you shld be ok to JOIN any type of game. you may not, however, be able to HOST anything more than about a 2v2. and that's just a generic, sort of average, type statement. your actual results may vary depending on a lot of factors. but yes, you shld be able to join 4v4's with a 56k. i've never had much trouble with my 56k except in hosting big games.
