Russia in da Early?

Hey, does anybody know why the designers chose to make Russia unplayable in the Early campaign? Even if Russia was not around back then, the designers could have at least let us control the Novgorod. Also, if I edited the start positions to be able to control Novgorod, would they have access to Boyars, the only reason to ever play the Russians?

Figured it out. You have to go to the active factions page in the startpos folder and modify FN_MINOR to FN_MAJOR. The Novgorod DO get Boyars http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Also, you can do this with any faction and play them in skirmish. One faction has Almughavars http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif I staged a big battle between the mongols and the Papacy in custom battle. I just started a game as Novgorod, and yes they get Russian units (Boyars) as well as Danish (Vikings and Longboats). I have noticed, however, that you dont get special titles (Chamberlain, Admiral, Archbishop, etc.). Does anyone know how to fix this?

you can alter titles and offices in the 'early.txt', 'high.txt', and 'late.txt' files to whatever you want.
