Can anyone tell me what units are crusade units?

And it would be great if somebody could tell me how to get strong economy.

And it would be even better if somebody could tell me how to reduces the chances of a rebellion. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

1. Crusade units are most commonly order foot soldiers, fanatics and peasants. Cavalry units depend on which faction you are playing (Spain = Knights of Santiago; HRE = Teutonic knights, Teutonic sergeants; England = Knights of Saint-John; Italy : don't know; France: don't know).

2. Build mines (rather cheap and often provide a better return than an improvement of your agriculture); Build farms in good provinces only (at least more that 150 agricultural income per year); start trading anywhere you can (need a trading house; a port and ship connecting it all to a port belonging to another faction - not to rebels). Only trade will provide you with enough money. be careful that - you don't trade with faction that are at war with you; a single hostile ship is sufficient to break the chain between your port and the other's factions port.

3. More troops; low taxes; governor with high dread in the province; converting population to your own religion; if catholic avoid excommunication.

Hope it helps.

Sorry cant help with the crusades yet, only played orthodox and muslims.
Trade, trade, mining complexes, some agriculture, and did i mention trade. Was getting up to 20k at my peek before i got into some squabbles with those dern catholics. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif
Jxrc got most of it, nice garrison, strong governor, watch your taxes, convert population. Also build churches, mosques, and such to help boost happiness. Can hit the shift key to show which provinces might rebel in the next year as well, though i have had occurances where one is green and it rebels and turns red the next year.

Actually, the crusade calvary for England and France are Templar Knights...very nice units, quite similar to chivalric knights.

As far as the economy goes, exploit as many of your resources and tradable good as possible. Even provinces that are not on a coast can benefit from the trading post>merchant>guild>etc upgrades. Agricultural upgrades will help pad the treasury as well. Also keep your tax rates as high as any given province can handle (i.e. without causing loyalty to become dangerously low).

On the rebellion issue, keep an eye on provincial loyalty (hit shift to see a color coded display on strat map), I try to keep them all at 100% or better. You can influence provincial loyalty by the number of troops present, tax rates, spies, the king's influence, etc. From what I've learned so far, one of the most effective ways to keep a Catholic provincal population in line is to place an inquisitor with some valour (3 or more stars) there...the population must be afraid of being labeled a heretic by the inquisitor. No one expects the Spanish Inquisition, the comfy chair, and all that silly nonsense. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Also, rebellions are not always caused by provincial discontent, but rather by disloyalty in the ranks of your army (I've even had a group of heirs turn on their father...the ungrateful pukes). Keep an eye on the loyalty ratings of your units' leaders, and try to keep them in line. There are a few things that will influence the loyalty of your generals, like marrying your daughters to them, or by giving them titles, and keeping the king's influence as high as possible. Also, several of the vices & virtues will affect loyalty. Any units that still have questionable loyalty, which can't be immediately shored up by one of the above, should be kept close to the king (that is in his army) as his presence seems to keep these folks in line. My troops are always split into loyal armies that go out and do most the campaigning, and the disloyal riff raff that stay in the king's army back on the home front.

You know, I actually build farm upgrades in almost every province... Even if they're not big payers they pay off in the long run, and in the endgame I'm always glad for every little bit of income as my trade tariff racket collapses...
