ive been looking for a map to print to have next to me when I play. The mini-map is pretty much useless IMO. Ideally the map should show all of the following:

- special unit bonus
- resources
- tradeables

anybody seen that?

Well what I have done is taken screen shots as wide as possible of the campaign map, and then written down the added info on the pics. This helps me to plan my campiagn. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Does anyone have a large picture of the whole campign map ?

Great question. This would save quite a bit of time when planning moves.

I think if you took an old Diplomacy conference map you could make a MTW map pretty easily. I would but scanner is on the fritz

there is no such map that comes with the game.

it would be possible to make one.

the campaign maps are in your files and can be displayed with any good paint program, like paint shop pro or photoshop. you could even edit the maptex file and have resources showing IN your game on the map itself.

the resources and tradable goods are all listed in the early- high- late.txt files. you could copy and paste this info into a notepad file and print it for easy reference. those files are found in the med-total war\campmap\startpos folder.

though i've never tried, you could prolly print the campaign map.

you could make a copy of the lukmap.lbm file and add in the resources and tradable goods and print it...just dont try and play on that one.

if you play any mods where someone has edited the resources and tradable goods, all your other printed stuff i've suggested above, is going to be wrong. like in my K_s_EarlyRussiaQ.zip mod, i've edited a LOT of the resources and tradables.

Hey thx K. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I just found another useful file in the same folder you mentiosned. It's called MapTex (& MapTex2). http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif I think I will zoom into the sctions of this file and split it up into theaters. That way I think it will be easier to plan regios (theater) specific campaigns. Ideally though I cud somehow make the borders of the provinces more visible, so that you cud know what borders what. Easier then to plan the attacks. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif Also I'll try and zoom in and add icons for resources, farming and tradables. Just need to find a .BIF complaint prog. Hmm maybe Photoshop ? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

I have created a bitmap of the game board but have not had the time yet to fill in the details of bonus to troops and etc. (Great Idea) I created the image from the game using the BIF tools. I use it for visual aid when describing my nightly adventures to co-workers. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I believe I mis-spoke. I utilized the ultimat paint program to do this not the bif readers sorry for any confusion caused.
