Ok i would have started a poll but i cant so treat this as a petition, any1 who thinks that the Scotts should have more units or be included in mp or even a playable faction plz post in the hope that sum1 from CA will notice this.

If i dont crusade on behalf of my fellow country men WHO WILL? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Sure, why not? Then hook it up with barocca's bagpipes and you are set.

I would love to see the Scots in the game, usually I just cheat and use the play as rebels code and take them over. The problem with putting the Scots into the game is that if you do it for the Scots what about all the other rebels of that time period? You can't leave them out.

Yeah if people who cum from other rebel provinces feel that there country/region should be added then i will sign a petition for them but in my experience if u make one big petition for rebels to be playable then it gets way outa hand and arguements start.

To add to MacGregor's point, where do you stop sub-dividing groups? After a while it gets silly, but at what point is that? I remember over at .com when the faction list first came out. Every European there that belonged to an ethnic group not in the game was clamouring for their group to be a faction. The non-playable factions argued to be playable. The Hungarians were even miffed that their faction was pink Europe was on the brink of a war for a few tense days there. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

But back to the point. Scotland deserves its own faction if only for the bagpipe. Scotland the Brave

Yeah i agree that not every rebel faction can be added but why oh why r ireland in mp and why do they get 2 units???
Ireland and Scotland both fought against the english and sumtimes even together but i would have thought that Scotland's Warriors where more famous? Braveheart any1?

I thought we took care of the Braveheart issue on another thread.....

Oh, and the Irish do deserve two units. And why is that, you ask? Because i'm half Irish and I say so. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I agree, i started a game with the rebel cheat code so i could play mainly scottland, but i eventually got tired of dealing with all the other rebel nations as well...although if ur looking for A LOT of fights this is kinda fun.

I think it would be great if a mod was developed that would allow you to play any faction or province, I'm thinking of a mod for Europa Universalis that made it possible to play as anyone, not just the factions available in the retail version.

Or atleast a way to make custom battles with the some scotts Ireland get their units under England but no clansman. I took a look at the Units file to try and mod itmyself but got scared from all those lines and ran away from my computer screaming like a women...I'll just leave that to u modders out there. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I need to play the Scots, and I want berserker bagpipers as their new extra hard special unit (for scaring horses like camels do). They can support my mighty highlanders and keep them from being run over by inconsiderate knights. Every time I use them these days its like some sort of horrible version of Falkirk.
.

And how do you play as the Rebels or other sides in the game? I've seen this mentioned, but I have no idea how to do it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

I just edit the files and make Great Britain start only with Scotland; it is doable, ya know. You can also edit and put the Clansmen in Custom.

Yellow_Knight,
there were 3 seperate people working on adding Scots factions down in the dungeon - all gave up in various levels of despair, however wellington has agreed to gather all his scots bits and pieces, tidy them up a bit and upload it to the org, you can alays drop down to the dungeon and ask him how it's going,

there is a thread on exactly this topic down in the dungeon,

also the Dungeon now sports an FAQ, it's in it's infancy at the moment,

it is mainly for Modding Questions that we see asked week in and week out, perhaps you can think of some for us to include in the FAQ?

There is also an effort being made by the crew to compile all their notes on mod making, campaigns, historical battles adding new factions and similar into guides that we will host here at the org, and when that is done we will link to them as we have for the FAQ.
(mind you we are all a busy lot as we approach christmas, so don't expect too much to soon)

3 different people failed?
well, i dont know what is wrong, its my 2nd day of modding for MTW (got it 4 days ago), and i made switzerland a playable faction from the new campaign menu, everything works fine, except the glorious achievements, which i didnt bother even looking at...
maybe i can help if you tell what problems you had?

Its easy to mod the scottish as playable, but under the name of another faction http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif (you can have scottish flags) i also gave my scottish faction the ability to train mongol units http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Just for fun

i was thinking along the lines of a completely new faction with more scottish units like Pikemen and scottish militia and maybe just maybe a bagpiper in every unit (the guy who usualy has the big flag also carries bag pipes but if he is killed -3 moral maybe?)

Swoosh So

A while ago i asked lord krazy to include a bagpipe unit in his mod pack to give the enemy -1 morale within range http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif they were feared of the bagpipes i think http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Bagpipes which affect friendly/enemy troop morale is a great idea, as well as having some historical accuracy.

Imagine, you could prop up your scared weakened troops with bagpipe horde and swing the battle your way...

say 20 bagpipers in a group so they can be wiped out if needed by the enemy.

Also, you could have border reivers as light cavalry and the scots mercenary archers - they were good (even if we stole the idea off the English http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif ).

Historicaly bagpipes where almost as deadly as the scotts.
They boosted scottish moral and also scared the enemy, also the whole mooning ppl before the fight might have put them off as well.
ahmed read my new signature i think ull like it. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
