some of the better players wich mostly not named but are my personal favorits....

jemasze; jerichoPrime; lunch & frog; paolai

i dont know the best, and this question get asked from time to time, i would ask to whom u lost the most?...or who play with a nice tactic?....art of war.

example would be, i like amp its nice to play him and see some of the good units he use, but (no offense aaron) he play very mecanic, i miss some euphory or feeling. thats his art and he is very good with this. but i love to play with or vs mag, we bring somehow the feeling on the field...its like an aura (at least for me). the armys move as one always active individuum... like it has a soul...

..forgive me my english, i dont think i found the right words to explain it in a very good way...

i just like some players and the kind of theyr play.

and sometimes this very good players, who i named above get forget, they are very good and should be named as well

well when i play i tend to find the better players the ones who play more on gut feeling than anything else. Although i definitly have to thank my mate elmo (whome i havent seen in some time) for most of my attitude towards the game.. he is really someone people should watch out for and learn from.

Cause of him i have lots of fun

Youre right mike i forgot about jerico i hadent played against him much but played with him in mi just before i left about 6 times on a good map 2v2, In a foggy game we tried to see how many enemies we could kill with just a few cav units, and nearly routed 2 armies with just a few cav on hit and run, Much fun

RageExecutioner, maybe not number 1 with cavalry, but absolutely the best infantry player, a great team player and a very nice person. He'ld occupy the first 3 slots in my top 5.

Thanks for mentioning me Swoosh, but I can never be in the top 100. If I accidentely do something good on the field, it's because of my decent allies offering me a good chance.

I never played against exe but i heard tales of his battlefield prowess http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif You were a more than capable ally on the field tosa, you just used too many ashi :P, Are you still making maps? I find alot of the standard game maps pretty boring http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif I wonder if anyone has created nagashima for mtw or can you copy the old maps over?

Imho nagashima was the finest map ever made http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Lots of fun in the team games with lots of tactics available, I tried to remake it as retroshima but made a botch job of it (even with tosa putting in nice trees) http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif Mind u that was before the editor was out, i think ill make a nice nagashima map for mtw http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Swoosh,

You should try a 3v3 with WE/MI v103 on Retroshima. That map comes alive, and I used that map many times to introduce players to the v103. So far, none of my MTW battles have equalled the intensity of any of my v103 battles, and I played a lot of v103. I didn't realize you made that map. Nice job.

I would also vouch for RageExe as a superb attacker with his infantry. He had complete awareness of where evey unit was and would maneuver against your position in a way that always seemed to give him a free roaming unit that you had no counter for. Once I matched him move for move, as you would in a chess game, successfully countering all his flanking attempts. When a gap opened in the middle of our fighting units and his general went to move through it, my general was there to counter him. Eventually, a single unit breaking on his right allowed me to roll up his line and win. Playing him forced me to improve my game since I always lost to him. That win was one of the last times I played him.

Swoosh,

Yes v103 was just a stat that Tosa, myself and about 8 other players worked on from March 2001 until June 2001. There were a few players who didn't like v103, but 90% of the players who tried it liked it. We took the partially flawed v102 which had been out for 3 months and tried to fix up the unit balance, and in the process made the rock, paper scissors gameplay stronger. There is also a carefully constructed rock, paper scissors within the cav itself which can generate some really dynamic cav actions during the battles. Rushes by all one unit type do not work, and you can play without the need for unit limiting rules. Six yari samurai are sufficient to stop an all cav rush. Ranged units are strong in v103, but there are effective counter units to them. Monks are restored as the strongest infantry unit, but heavy cav can beat them. Yari samuri and yari cav prevent the heavy cav from dominating the game. The kensai is the most problematical unit to balance, but I think the 16 kensai rush doesn't work anymore.

While the Sengoku balance works well, we had trouble getting the Mongol units balanced, but decided to release it in June because release of MTW was closing in. Since then MizuToda made an attempt to improve the Mongol balance in a stat called v105. I've played it twice and the Mongols are indeed fearsome. I don't think it's been playtested enough to determine how well balanced it is, but MizuToda does have a lot of experience playing with the v103.
