Elite units and 100 man units.

Recently i tried a whole elite unit army (60 man) mixed with 1 or 2 100 man units. I am stuck which is the better to go with? More elites or more 100 man units.
Losing a battle sends a shiver down my spine and then i try and work out what i have done wrong but alas i cant and thus turn to you for help.

What should i do?

It's just pure luck, I bring spear laden infantry my enemy doesnt have many cavs, I bring sword laden infantry my enemy plays all cav army.

hmmm, yes there is some luck, but with a balanced army ur on the saved side.

let me post my standart army, wich i use lately:

15k

4 foot v2
4 chivmaa v3
3 arba
1 longbow
4 knights

u need spears without spears u cant win or its real hard vs good players. if ur units are a bit tired, like after the first big impact, u need spears to stay vs the cavs.
later in the game the cav can rout everything, just not the spears http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

i have 4 elite units, wich i use in center, they can break near everything....
but anyway, the 100 men units stay for ever, just cover the flanks and the rear and they near never run...

Right thanks alot kocmoc, when you say bring spears how many do you think i should bring and where do i place them.

I think we need to arrange some lesson time, so you can give me a view helpful pointers, arrgg and i was on a winning spree til then. Plus tenki is not forming up to well so we havnt been able to work out our tactics together which is a shame.

Dont worry ill master this game eventually.

Magyar i would be much obliged if you didnt state the obvious in my posts please, i know i need a trainer my training was cut short with tenki so its hard.

I agee with Kocmoc, and use that army as my standard army in non-desert and non-rocky terrain with the exception that I use 4 arbs without the longbow. You can slant that army toward more ranged, more swords, more spears/polearms or more cav depending on what you think you will be facing.
