Because I personally believe that 4v4 Clan vs. Clan combat is the most exciting, and offers the greatest challenge, and the most fun that multiplayer can provide. I would like to announce the opening of an entirely new and unique contest called the Clan Wars Competition (CWC for short).

No registration, no regulation, no rules
Anywhere, anytime, any Clan
That’s what I’m talkin’ about

Starting as of this post:

If your Clan members fight a 4v4 battle against another Clan, I want the logfile.

ClanWars@hotmail.com

If you will send it to me, I will score the game and post the result on a new site now under construction.

http://clanwars.homestead.com/home.html

Scoring is as follows:

One point to the hosting clan for providing the game.

One point for every participating player. Both Clans get points, just for playing.

One point for every surviving general on the winning side. If you live to tell the tail, you get an extra point.
(Amended to:One point for each member on the winning side who is still in control of their army at the end of the game)

Points will be compiled weekly with Most Active and Most Successful Clan of the month acknowledgments. A new contest starts every month.

In addition:

Multiple Clans can fight on a side, with points going to their respective Clans.

Mercenaries (the unclaned) can be hired to fill out a roster to enable mismatched forces, as long as there are at least TWO members from the hiring Clan present. The hiring Clan gets one point for having them, but no extra point can be given even if you win and their general survives.

Suggestion:

If you have members who play without a Clan ID on their player names, it might be best to send me a list of your members, to make sure your Clan gets the credit for their victories.

Please let Clan Wars be the 4v4 trophy room for your Clan.

Now go get em
Good Hunting.

And please remember to,
Show Me The Logfile

Thanks http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

so do you give points for wining the game or just keeping your general alive?

why dont merc's get points for their wins? this way you can have a ronin only ladder, or perhaps an all players ladder.

and keep us posted on webpage completion and participation.

You get the extra point (above the point just for playing) for winning "and" keeping your general alive. To my mind, your armys general represents you. If you win the battle but lose your life, you can't take the gold home to mama.
On reflection, this could be changed to winning "and" having men under your control at the end of the game (just saw a way to figure that). That is probably a better way to handle things. Let's do it that way http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Merc's don't get points cause there’s no place to put them. The major emphasis in this contest is Clans. Building strong Clans thru competition, encouraging folks to join Clans, or start their own Clans. Part of the purpose for allowing non Clan members into the game is so they can get a taste of Clan life http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

These games are rare so it may be a little while, but I will let you know when something happens.

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif I am a ronin ... no point for me
http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mecry.gif my general always die 8 out of 10 times even when I win... heck, dies of heart attack when acnon ball goes his way, fall off horse pursuing enemy routing troops, stepped up amids his troops to boost morale and turn the tide, troops win and chase the enemy away, but general got caught, ...

Goedfrey my friend,

I don’t know what’s going on with Clan Sunday. Nobody does

I do know what’s going on with the Clan Wars Competition.

It’s going to happen http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Annie, please don’t cry. I can’t stand it when you cry http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Really, all points well taken.

How’s this sound?

One point for every participating player.

One additional point for every player on the winning team.

Mercenaries form other Clans, and/or independent Ronin generals can be hired to fill out a roster to enable mismatched forces. Their points go to the hiring Clan.

This is as simple as it gets, and still maintain integrity as a Clan vs. Clan contest.

Is that what you want Annie?

Well then, we’re all set. Onward and upward

The Clan Wars site now has a bear bones message board attached to it, if you would like to stop by and say hi. Just click anywhere on the home page to get in.

http://clanwars.homestead.com/home.html

It is intended as a place where you can state your Clans general or specific availability, make challenges, and arrange battles, etc..

Also, if you are looking for new members for your Clan, or to join a Clan, or start a Clan of your own, Clan Wars might be a good place to tell folks about it.

Clan Wars will have it’s own competition (the CWC) but we are also interested in hearing about any other Clan vs. Clan contests. Please come an announce your events, and keep us updated on your progress.

I will be working on the balance of the site as time permits. I will do my best to make it a kool place where your exploits can be celebrated by all.

Please remember ClanWars@hotmail.com if you fight a 4v4 Clan vs. Clan battle. Just attach or copy the logfile, or take a picture (F2) of the Battle Report at the end of the game, and send that. For that mater, all pictures and descriptions of the battle are welcome.

Oh Yes Please save the replay. If you will send it along, we will make it available to everyone, and enter it into a special “Battle of the Month” contest.

GL ALL

Thanks
Tomi

On the way from here to the Clan Wars site, more changes were made to the origional contest format (beyond those agreed to above). It is now posted there for your review.

The most important being to expand the competition to include ALL Clan vs. Clan battles. Any time opposing Clan forces join in battle in 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, or 4v4, they can earn points for their Clan. So you could fight four 1v1s or one 4v4 to recieve the 8 same points (providing you won all of course).

Also, if you are fighting as the result of another Clan vs. Clan competition, you can also get credit with Clan Wars for your battles, just send in the logfile.

Hmmm, just think of the possibilitys http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif
