Look, if you hit the Windows key by accident when you're on the battlefield, in WinXP this is what happens:

Game pops to your desktop. You click back on game, it comes up but it's a totally black screen and nothing works.

Go back and forth a couple times and you finally get this error:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, in the patch, disable the windows key when the game is run. This is like the third time I've had to End Task the game after just getting in a battle because of accidentally hitting the windows key instead of CTRL while grouping units. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/frown.gif


Looks like some sort of DirectDraw Error that's not properly reloading the game sprites after a WindowsKey-initiated switch to desktop.

mmmmm... i have XP and have.. on a ridiculous amount of times hit the windows key... gone to desktop.. and gone back to MTW with no probs. Screen goes black... but it gets there after a few seconds.

Not sure what it is for u..

Simple solution. Get a butter knife/screwdriver or some other lever and pop those friggin annoying keys off. It's much better without them, never having to worry about accidentally hitting one. Even if it doesn't crash your game it's still an unnecessary annoyance. It's also much easier to find the ctrl+alt keys in the heat of the moment.

Thing is I actually use them when working in Windows sometimes. WindowsKey+D is extremely handy and much faster than trying to click on ShowDesktop in the QuickLaunch bar.
