What if you can upgrade armors and weapons in the multiplayer or custom game. We all know there are 3 levels of weapon and armor.
Maybe Lv1 armor = 100koku
Lv1 weapon = 100koku
then Lv2 etc.
Lv3 etc.
and set the price depends on the Level of armor or weapons. What do you think?

I would like to see armor/weapons in MP unit selection screen as well. It can just be another set of arrows (like the honor ones) you can set for any given selected unit.

But, they would have to be cheaper than an honor upgrade. I think if this was available we would see everybody adding armor to their monks so they dont die so fast to arrows.

Not to mention, the benefits of honor increase meet or exceed those of armor/weapons.

But heck, I would love to put armor on my monks/nodachis/musks/cav archers to make them less vulnerable to arrows.

Hmmm... Imagine facing 16 arquebusiers or ashigaru with legendary armor and 3 weapons upgrades! *Yikes*

And what if they could have their morale upgraded too? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif

i've always liked the option for upgrades, which was one reason i avoided mp for a bit, since in campaign my armies usually had some sort of upgrade that was just as advantageous as high honor.
it could work on a less expensive sliding scale per unit, depending on the unit's original cost.

It would certianly make NoDachi a better option if they had better defence to arrows.

And of course it will help with the online campaign...

It would be good to hear from LongJohn with his info/thoughts on weapons and armor upgrades and their effects on troops. Thou there costs should be considerably less than an honor point. Remember it only costs 20 koku to take H0 Ashi to H1... and the honor point is better than level 1 weapons and armor combined.

Just answer me this guys...how many times have you gotten frustrated waiting for your opponent to pick his army? http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/mad.gif And that's when all he has to do is pick his honor http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

I wish we could do something like this, but I don't think it'll be all that easy...at all levels!

Good point. But it would be useful for online campaigns though.

Wouldn't every body like to have an army equipped with durable armors and strong weapons? Rather than the old rusty ones you use for every battle. Not counting the good protection, but just think of how easy it would be when you need to chop a head off with a strong sword while your old rusty sword can't even cut a piece of cake. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif So for your own sake, please consider "Shogun's Weapon and Sword Shop" It's the best place to go for a little slice & dice. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/cool.gif

I think the ability to increase armor would add lots of depth to the game. It would make for more interesting match ups.

Yeah, the flexibility to create much more different armies would be nice. It would give the generals much more opportunities to customize and fine-tune their armies, which is good. Would be a nice feature for a future patch or add-on pack.

i don't think this is to bad because at the moment you either have a lot of units or high honour (more or less).
with armor & upgrades because they would be cheaper than 'buying' honour a middle way could be explored
