Greetings Everyone and all success for 2003 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Considering the number of threads already running on the subject I'd think it is time for a RTW only Forum to be launched.

Naturally, the launch can be deferred to after the RTW game is officially "confirmed". However since the game is virtually confirmed (evidence: all hints, screenies, intro movie, gamestar article), maybe best to start work on the next forum, already.

Aggony http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif is already a step ahead on this .

Not yet, its to early. Maybe in a few months when we actually know something about the game besides the fact that it deals with Rome.

Shahed

Yes possibly.

Until then though, we will have a lot of RTW threads in the MTW area.

I'd go along with that, but wait till we get the official info. first - and perhaps some more screenies that we can discuss.

A dedicated forum might be too much right now, but the fan ideas to CA should be flowing... I think they have the data from the patch wishlist too, and I guess they'll use that too, but you can never mistake when giving feedback to the game developers.

ShadesWolf

Personnally I think it is to early.

We have no info to talk about yet.
We have no preview to discuss...
etc..

Maybe in a month or so we might have a little more info, or maybe things will die down for a few months, as things did with Medieval.

So I say at this moment in time, I personnaly think we dont need one yet.

Sjakihata

I think it is a good idea. All news about it can be posted there, and people can follow the development. And the other forum will be more "clean". And it does not cost anything to open a new forum http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Shahed
01-01-2003, 22:24
I agree that it is not an imperative. However it is as Sjakihata says, it will be much cleaner to move the Rome TW threads to that forum, and it will serve as the place to talk and follow the development of the game. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Yeah I feel its bit too early. We also have an expansion coming soon. But ofc we shouldnt wait too long if the developers are interested in our feedback..

I almost voted for "GAH" due to it might be too early to tell and I'm also convinced it's the real thing, but then I convinced myself that early won't hurt, so yes we should once we got the word that it's surely going to be Rome.

too little information. discussions would just be "I think they should add this"
"no, that's stupid -- you're stupid"
"bite me"
"that's funny, I though the do*che-bag parade was on sunday"

Kraxis

Well the 16th of January keep popping up in Gils posts, so lets wait fro that at least, and personally I think we should wait for the expansion. Maybe a lot of the things we want better are better in that, so there would be no need to yell it out in another forum.

Its too early for all that, lack of gaming details from official sources will just led to too many speculation and wild imagination to make it viable.

once the furor dies down and the holidays pass you can be sure the MH will be a bit more cleaned-up regarding the posting of repetitive Rome threads - those of you from previously remember how things got for a week or two right before patch 1.1 was released, and then the subsequent two weeks after; things are runnign fine now and there's no damage.

Too early. We should have one in two weeks though. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

In all seriousness, we really don't have that much information to toss around in a forum anyway. Besides, the few topics we have on Rome aren't going to get in the way of Medieval discussion. In any case, there will certainly be a Rome forum and you can count on .org to change with the times.

Just click the link above and d/l the intro movie. It can't get any more official than this. It just cannot.

Well, first I voted against because it was to already but this demo and screenshots tell it all. Rome Total War is the game that is coming. And most of the posts are already about it.

I vote yes now for creating a seperate RTW section on the board.

Wait till more 'evidence' is released - then make it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

We can expect many previews etc so a forum would be needed for sure. 'Wish-lists' will probably invade it too - it happened with both the MI forum and the MTW forum anyway http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I think we need to do something to get rid of all the Rome stuff clogging the forum. So, uh, yeah, let's get a new forum. Heck, with the HOF forum that will make two new forums http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif The world is turning upside down

Shahed
01-04-2003, 00:15
Look Folks

The game is on it's way, we know that and need no further proof. It's time to set it up, but as a business oriented person I have the following question:

Will setting up a RTW forum (like the HOF forum) be very consuming in time and manhours ?

Agreed that this forum will contain only a few threads at the mo, but so does HOF. Also I have tried very hard to keep the forums clean by keeping RTW in the initial 8 page thread as much as possible. Anyway a lot of threads have spilled out of that one, those may be better organized in the RTW forum ? What do you guys think ?

Lastly before the move the poll was shifting significantly into a yes vote.

Creating a new forum takes two minutes with Ikonboard. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
Finding the moderators would take more time but all the affair would be quick I think.

Well, personally I think it would be best to wait until after VI comes out, but then you need to decide where to direct the RTW traffic, is it OT or does it belong in MTW or STW? sounds a bit complicated.

Darkmoor Dragon has put up a forum for Roman total war. He seems to have some insider info going on that he'll be giving out once his gag order is up. Obake seems to think that it will be a little while until .com has a dedicated forum.

So, this all being said, I think it would be better to do it now and have it organized instead of the mods dealing with keeping things all in the right place.

With the publishing of the following article we can expect the number of RTW threads to multiply further:

PC GAMER UK - RTW Article (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=7;t=4540)

i'm not sure, after seeing the article i say yes, but the feb 2003 has to be a lie, we still have viking invasion which is supposed to come out after feb.

it would show of wisdom if teh orgstaffers would create a roman forum, before we are flooded elsewhere

let the romanfans have their place to share pics info and stuff and reduce the postmoving about TW2 in teh mainhall.

Kongamato
01-16-2003, 21:21
Many of the people who would talk about RTW are new guys in the first place, and would need to pass the Entrance Hall. It would not be a good idea to block off the people who come here for RTW exclusively by either moving their threads or forcing them to talk about MTW, which they probably dont own or play regularly.

Sjakihata
01-16-2003, 23:32
Just place so all can talk in that forum without have to be senior patrons..

EDIT:

I am not "new", and my interest for RTW is even greater than for MTW. The reasons is that rtw is in a setting, which I like more than the medieval one, and the new engine of course http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

imho... the main hall should be kept thoughout the viking expansion and should not be seperated from the mtw discussion.

i also think that the barracks and jousting field should be combined.. since both concern the mp part of the game and tend to have the same audience of patrons.

I personally agree with VI in Main Hall. Barracks are clan orientated, while the Jousting Fields are for the more general MP part of the game.

Enjoy your stay Monk.
