I thought being a junior member meant that I didn't need viagra http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif.

Now that I am a senior member (when did that happen by the way?) I have found that is not the case.

Just that I tend to ramble more and ...

I lose track of what I was originally going to say. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

But of all the things to note is to use liberal use of emoticons when being sarcastic/ironic/funny.

It is easier to put up a smilie then back pedal when a comment is taken the wrong way as it has happened many a time to myself. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/argue.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif prefer http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

Speaking of smilies and Gregoshi... what did you think of my smilie porn show http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif?

I blame it on my sick Australian schooling system;
'If you can't say something nasty shut the f*((&p'
and that was the teachers http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif. The school motto was integrity... I think it should have been irony.

Gregoshi

That doesn't sound very good - for either of us. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

The show...hmmmm...it was very graphic http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif but the plot was somewhat lacking.

My query is: What criteria is required to become a senior member. I've noticed guild members with maybe only 15 post being senior members whereas someone with several hundred post is still a junior member......surely to be a senior member you have to show committment to the forum and not just do the occasional topic

Papewaio
11-28-2002, 13:31
Some of those senior members opted for a reset to their total posts or have started again under a different name for MTW. Others just went for stunning quality of posts.

Myself, they took pity on me http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

1) From the Guild Membership Information topic: Promotion to Junior Member is based on participation, conduct and contributions in your posts and is prompted by a nomination from an Org staff member.

2) Of course you matter. Why would you think otherwise?

Heres a little thought that just sprung into my mind...

Promotions are agreed upon by the Entrance Hall moderators Gregoshi and KukriKahn and require that you participate in discussions in the Entrance Hall.

If there are two people who agree on deciding on who gets promoted out of the ranks of cannon-fodder/peasant class (AKA junior patron level), and they disagree, what happens?

Do they make the person in question semi-peasant? Or ask someone else? Or am I just misunderstanding and wasting work time?

Just curious really....

KukriKhan
12-13-2002, 05:33
Then we do paper-rock-scissors 3 times to decide.

Moderators,

I just noticed the difference between patron, member and being senior and junior. A quick survey told me that promotion from junior patron to senior patron works okay but from Senior Patron to Junior Member and Junior member to Senior Member, I didn't see anyone who is promoted.
What I mean is that in my eyes e.g. Wellington should deserve a senior membership for all his contributions about unit modding and there are many others who invest immense hours of work for the community.

I don't mean to act as a moderator but I'm just wondering how this promotion system works past the Senior Patron status.

There is no set procedure those beyond Senior Patron. We should formalize or schedule such things though. The difference isn't that great but it does seem to matter to many as you are not the first to ask this question. Perhaps I'll call an Ent Moot of the staff on this issue. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

PanthaPower, I realized I never got back to you. It seems there have been a number of promotions beyond Senior Patron. They are done quietly and with no fanfare. I suppose this is to prevent whining - If so-and-so got promoted to Great Dingbat, I should be too, etc, etc. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Greetings,

Well this is my first post on the new boards. I did post on the old boards before they were taken off-line although I was more active in the totalwar.com forums than the .org
Hope that last comments doesn't get me banned :-)

Anyway, I was reading the guild membership rules and I noticed that people who used the old boards automatically got access to the main hall. Is that correct and if so would it be possible to check if I qualify for that ? My name on the old boards was the same. No big deal if not...I'd just thought to ask.

Cheers

I didn't get a chance to read all of the Membership information all the way through, until now and I must say it is the best policy I have ever seen at a forum. The fact that you don't get banned first time just demoted is also a good idea as well. Whoever thought up the idea deserves a medal.

Also a short note here, when you have time, could someone please help me out in uploading an Ikonboard to my server, for example step by step instructions on how to set it up, what they give you doesn't help me. Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

sadly you can't change your portrait until you have more than 500 posts. The pic changes in stages (e.g) 0-49 50-99 and then when you have 500+ you can choose your own.

I agree 100% ... er ... NO (correction) I agree 1000% http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

This guy Wellingtons a real star In fact, he's so good he really deserves a dedicated fanclub. I, for one, would certainly join.

In fact, I would propose The Org really sorts itself out and introduce/incorporate new functionality within The Orgs pecking order and introduce a new catagory of God-like-people, that are NOT nominated by the power-mongers but rather by the proliteriate masses.

I further propose that this guy Wellington (or welly as I've heard him/her refered to), whomever this individual is, be the first recipient of The Orgs new 'God-Like-People-Never-To-Be-Questioned' catagory. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

This is a GREAT idea One benificial side effect would be to distract attention from the current abyssmal state of The Orgs current downloads area (Distraction is important Take a leaf out of George Bush's book)

Anyway, this person Welly has my full support, so ...

RAH, RAH WELLY

On a more serious note (is there such a thing?) I've just reread Greg's response above and therefore decided to do a bit of analysis of my own.

Having now spent several hours analysing the statistics provided by The Orgs members lists

Very, very revealing.

I'll post a 'largish' thread sometime tomorrow detailing the results of my findings/analysis - at which point perhaps some of the moderators could provide explanations for the obvious disparity of -

- patron/member 'status'
- quality of postings
- number of postings

It would have been nice to know 2 other things (via these members stats) -

1) at what date any individual was 'promoted'
2) by whom (moderator) this 'promotion' was recommended

These 2 items of data, had they been available from The Org, would have surely provided EVEN MORE revealing insights

Stay tuned. Results to be posted as soon as I can thoroughly analyse them.

Welly

tqi01, Senior Patron level was changed about a month ago. It no longer includes posting rights to the Tavern. Your time as a SP should be relatively short, usually no more than a week or two at tops. At some point in that 1-2 week period, you will be promoted again to Junior Member with full posting rights to the Tavern.

It seems to me that the STW forum should be open to junior members. Promotion to senior member is based on participation and since I only play Shogun I can't find any threads to participate in. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/angry.gif

Shinano, there are STW threads here. The three choices you have are 1) find one or two older STW threads and revive them; 2) reply in the Entrance Hall to a post in the Sword Dojo and ask a mod to move your reply over there for you; 3) Post your own STW topic here in the Entrance Hall - you will most likely get responses.

Hello Odinn,

The 30 days are just a limited time to confirm a registration. Once in, your account won't be deleted.

The database lost 2 members since last November, both are restored from backup. An e-mail (and proof) that the account is yours is enough to fix a corrupted or lost account.

Enjoy your holiday.
