Interesting screenshot where you see the vikings running bare chested through the snow. man were those vikings hard core or were they HARDCORE http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

I still not sure wether i will be buying the game or not. ill wait for the forums judgement before i do i think.

at the moment i am not convienced it will be different enough from MTW to justify the purchase.

Devs any more news on what broken or bugged elements of mtw have been fixed in the expansion ?
Also has the long requested "no destruction of city upgrades before castle falls option been included in the expansion ? By city upgrades we mean spearmens workshop, marshalls palace etc etc. basicly any building that would have historically been in a walled city or castle not on the plains.

My guess is that the added campaigns and new features for MTW will make it worth it, just as with Mongol Invasion. I didn't play the Mongol campaign that much -- it gets quickly boring after you've smashed the main Hojo armies. I only played individual battles as the Mongols when I wanted to crush and annihilate http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

But there were those extra campaigns for regular Shogun which were very different from the original one, and the cool additional units, like the Kensai and battlefield ninja that made it more fun. I imagine that
MTW:VI will be similar. They are going to add new features, like now you can decided which reinforcements to bring on instead of it being at random. Of course, they might have put that in a patch http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Looks great BTW, how could king Sigurd II NOT have Perversion as a vice with a mustache like that? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

I wish......

The whole of the Medieval TW map had been done in that detail and the gmae had run in seasons...

Well, enough of that...

I think this expansion looks fun..

in the pic with sigrud... you might take note of the troops... the unit size is on double, and sitting there is a uni of what looks to be 12(24) berserkers...... YAY

It looks good http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I will be waiting (lurking) in the forums to see if any of the numerous bugs from MTW have been fixed. A patch (compatible with MTW) would encourage me to buy it on publication http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Very interesting screenshots.

I noticed that some of the cavalry has retained the Byzantine crosses on their grey shiels. Hopefully that is just a glitch that will get worked out.

Also, one of the last new shots has some Viking Housecarles carving up the red faction (Saxons?) real bad I can only see red bodies, no black or grey guys.

Those 24 Berserkers must be damn powerful and impetuous... I'm really looking forward to ripping the heart out of my enemies kings with them. Hopefully they will be worth more than the Hashishins and cheaper

It is nice that the cityforts are large. I have hated all the Forts simply because they are more of a trap than a refuge, too easily overcomed. Now that might not be the case with those larges pens. But seriously, vikings with catapults?

Lastly that shot with Sigurd confirms my idea of only Denmark and Norway as the viking homelands. It seems to be about three provinces, two perhaps. Look at the minimap.

Apparently the rotten Archers has made a comeback, but this time they might actually be worth something. Many of the units we have seen are not wearing any armour at all and some don't have large shields either. So the Archers might kill many more troops in VI than in MTW.

The Welsh running round semi-naked in Winter - errr I think not - still it makes them look like real hard cases http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

The scale of some of the buildings looks well out of proportion. In one shot there is a monstrous aisled hall/palace that could easily swallow four parish churches like the one shown adjacent to it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

Looking forward to it http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Maybe that particular game is being played with double sized units?

I wouldn't think they'll make the default size larger.

so the way it looks there won't be any sieges in VI, well atleast not like the once in MTW.

I think that it's pretty funny that the sieges were one of the main selling points of MTW, and are not part of the expension pack

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif Extra Cool
I know a number of people have voiced concerns over whether it will be 'different' enough from MTW, but I will DEFINATELY be buying it
New units, new maps, and a new challenge is what I crave - I've just about played MTW to death, having campaigned as every faction (including the minor non-playable ones) at least twice. I have only completed the map 100% once, but I normally play on GA, so total dominations not my game.
Bring on VI, I can't wait http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

There were vast improvements in sp campaign in the mongol expansion im sure it will be the same for viking invasion, Lets hope the mp improvements are just as good, I especially like the idea of seeing both armies before the battle

faisal don't worry... the vikings have certain advantages the others don't. They pillage better or more and they can go raiding without ships.
