CA's henchmen have in the past said that although multi campaign wont work in an expansion theyl have to wait for thr next game, and geuss wat RTW is the next game.

i'm always amazed how people constantly gripe about a single player campaign. have you guys actually played stw or mtw single player? its SLOW. it would never work in a mp format. it would be at a serious lack for fun. i'm glad CA has realized this, and not wasted time with a futile effort. plus, if they did include one, then all the forum goers would post about how boring it is.

Id also love playing a sp form of campaing in mp but it wont work, an avrage turn takes at least 40 mins for me in the late era counting the battles ande there are hundreds of turns to be played if you go throught the entire ages and to me it appears impossible to make it work in mp, if they donsnt do like the civ3 developers and invent new non classic ways of playing civ in mp but I have a hard time seeing how that would work to there are lots of battles each turn here taking up large amounts of time somtehing wich there isnt in civ3.

I'd be very happy if the current MP was perfected and rid of all bugs first.

I hope the Rome Total War has a multiplayer campaign, but I do hope it isn't turn-based, I hope CA have copied Paradox even more by implementing a time based realtime mechanic in the campaign, which would enable online players to choose how long it would take for time to progress before playing. What I mean is we could choose whether each game year would take 1 minute or however long we wish.

I had hoped that MTW had Multiplayer Campaign so i could play against my little brother.

I can't if i have to wait for RTW...

He only has a P3 400mhz and i seriously doubt he can play RTW, he can barely play MTW....

i really dont care if theres a MP campaign...when i first got MTW i couldnt stop playing SP for 2 weeks. Sp is deffinatly where i spend most of my time in any of the TW games. u'd be surprised on some of the Stories that have unfolded and the GReat Battles ive had. either way. if RTW has MPC or not i will be happy with the SPC.

ive played online. and while its fun i miss the aspects of the SP. i do play online from time to time but i spend the majority of my time in SP campaigns.

I think CA has hinted it will be in RTW .

I hope it is . I can understand Monks' interest in the campains , as that's where my interests lay also ; I havn't even played an MP TW game yet {and as I would have to "unmod" my game , I'm never likely to http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif} . When I want some competiton I play World War II OnLine {sortof a real time World War II Total War from a first person perspective http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif} and I rather enjoy the solitude aspect of the S.P. game . However , I would very much be interested in M.P. campains if they work well ... atleast so long as they don't get in the way of some hearty modding http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I would really like MP Campaign and I'd hope a hotseat mode since my connection is rather average. Of course in hotseat mode the battles between players would have to be auto-resolved but so what...I'd more like to team up with my friend against the AI (of course if it plays better than in MTW http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif )

I would NOT like an MP campaign if it means that we're going to have the turn-based, empire building thing we have now. If it means a 'campaign' in the classic sense, the moving of an army from its base to enemy territory and positioning and maneuvering towards battle, then I emphatically WOULD like it, because the main aspect MTW and STW lack in is that they don't have an operational level of combat; that is, they don't have a thing where you maneuver your army and choose your terrain before combat. It's just either set-piece battles, or empire building. Nothing in between. For example, Napoleon's main genius is said to be his expertise maneuvering for battle; that's entirely ignored here.

Just make it real time, and not turn based. European Universalis 2 is real time and it works just fine. And if they can add more players to one faction, one can make battles, while the other is managing taxes, building armies etc

I'd love to see a MP campaign, I can see it getting bogged down online, but a LAN game could prove really fun (with AI's to fill in the non taken factions, of course)

I guess CA are the only people to really know if a MP campaign is a liable option, since we have little idea how the campaign structure works yet.

I think the MP campaign could work if there was the ability to save the game at a point so when someone has to leave, they can join back up with the same opponent later on and continue play.
