i personally think it would be a good idea to have a specific era called Multi-Player .. for example we could have (using mtw as example)

Late
High
Early
MP

imo, this would allow us to have peotic licence over historical correctness whilst not affecting the SP game .. i dont beleive this would take a lot of effort from CA because in M:TW we could have just based the MP era on high, then with the 1.1 patch release we could lobby for changes to be made to bring it away from the standard High period .. even if we are unable to update the stats ourselves without the need for a patch, how long would it take someone from CA to make a mini-patch that simply changed a minor detail like moving pav arbs and lancers out of the MP period .. is this an unacceptable level of after sales support to ask for?

this solution could bring better MP by allowing changes to unit availability, cost and stats without the dilemma of effects it would have to the masses of SP ..

just a thought ..

If CA continue the trend with making mods more easy even for MP (They took a step in right direction in VI but still need one little thing more) they dont need to make a MP era.

If CA also continue having a few extra columns in their stat files its easier for them to adjust things for MP without hurting SP.

Yes MP modding has become easier in theory. If CA takes one step more we can have mods that doesnt need to swap stats at all..just pick the right era as host and game works out what unit and missile stats to use. Now they have the units but not missile.

Im just a bit pissed off they didnt do it for missile too...its a lost opportunity. Modding will never be as interesting in RTW compared to MTW. At least not for me.

another option id rather have would be a custom era

basically this would let the host select which units cant be used in that game. It would help a lot more with balance issues than any other mod... mainly because it would give players the freedom they want and set up specific rules for thier games.

Yes buw how can a player see what units are left out? This could end up with loads of units ... not just a few.
