hey guys, RTW looks really great and all....but I'm afraid it will go the way of Simcity 4 (moves so slow on my system that I'm saving it for when I get a new computer).

I'm running on a 730Mhz don't know ram right now,
AMD Athlon processor......I'd have to check and see everything else.

MTW runs very smoothly (save for it gets kinda sluggish when I have battles in excess of 8000 men in them http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif ) so is there any reason for me to suspect that RTW will not run that well under the same specs?

hey Kinight, take a look at the post about New sceens, in it theres an article about RTW, and they explain abit on the specs that run it. so far P3 600 and a 16mb 3d card run RTW smoothly and in some cases better than MTW.

Well they've been working on this engine for over 2 years now IIRC. (yes that's right they started with RTW not much time after shogun http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif )

IIRC some guy at the .com saying (long ago) the engine handles one unit as one skin, or something like that. also if you have soem of the larger screens you can see that the units in the distance actualy look like crap http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif . this also saves alot of power.

oh yeah I almost forgot: modren 3Dcards arent build to calculate thousends of 2D units in STW and MTW. the only thing it uses it superduper 3D capacity for is the terrain.
RTW is fully 3D so now the 3Dcards can use its full potential

hope this made things a little clearer.

I dont care about system specs, cuz im getting a new comp soon WOOHOO The only reason i would want them low, is so that more people could be online... for me to beat http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

PS- Im not conceited... I just have a very high opinion of myself http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

That may be why it should work on most mid range 3d cards. I would personally not opt for a low end card, and go for a RAD 9700 type, soon http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
