hey i think there should be a feature in RTW where you can use a MIC its so much easy then typeing that some roman cavs about to rape your archers i would like this would be easyer to talk and make tactics plans.

their should be a ally only talk and a non ally talk.

I agree that a mic should be optional, but i really dont like the idea of being yelled at, i mean im ok in respects to playing (average skill), but i dont like the thought of a 10-12 yr old yelling at me saying things such as "Har har i own you you suck u peice of sh** monk, come back when u can fight your way out of a forest"

i know im not the best here, but i dont need a 12 yr old reminding me and giving me a verbal beating

my point? a mic should be optional but only for team use
imo.

edit: heh i forgot the word not http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I totally agree with Monk. I might be using it when playing with someone I know but I guess most of the time you don't even want to know who you are playing with http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

That I can understand, shouting CHARGE into a mic is pretty cool obviously (I hope your neighbours agree).

The Roman general monk aproaches the final barbarian stronghold, he had been battling the tribes for over 10 years and was finaly on the verge of defeating them. his Infantry moved in and began to take arrow fire, they shifted into a tortiose formation to keep them safe. the roman cavalry moved into position, and with a Yell from monk "CHARRRRGE" the calvary assualted the gates.

unfortunatly for monk he had forgotten that R:TW was just a game and in his excitment he yelled as loud as he could, unfortunatly he had just awoke everyone in the building. with the speed of lighting Monk dashed outside and began to run from the mob of angry people. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Well with interactive voice to your other MP players

it could get distracting especally if 2 of your 4 v 4
get sweet and cooey on each other and arrange a date or something...

it would be even WORSE if they were both of the same gender...

see the risk you get talking to real live people?
much nicer talking to my peasants.

you could always use the mute button on your keyboard if you want to ignore someone http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Dudes,

Me and Sinan use a program/hardware called game voice sidewinder. It has a round box, with 4 channels and a main channel. It comes with a neat headset with mike on it. Also it features voice recognition, so if I say wedge the selected unit moves into a wedge. You can assign all commands available to the game in concern.

This gives you one extra "tool" when you play. Now you not only have two hands but also the mouth.
