They were used by some german, celtic tribes and by the dacians ... So they may as well be in RTW? What do you think? I thought that since hounds will be in, why not faulcons? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Elephants... falcons... burning pigs...

It's beginning to sound more and more like Zoo Tycoon http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/joker.gif

But seriously *tries very hard*: if it's historically accurate, yes Bring it on http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

Sounds cool as well.

I think it would cause unnecessary strain on the developers to include something like this. Was it really used enough to be implemented in RTW? I'm not exactly an expert on he subject, so I ask some of the more historically astute people to tell me, was it a major factor in any battles?

Barring elephants i sincerely hope wardogs and flaming pigs are it as far as unorthodox bestial units are concerned. I'll take a pass on falcons, hawks, eagles, poo filled pigeons and laden swallows thank you very much.

Regarding elephants the simple presence of torches issued to skirmishers and men in the front lines should be enough to lessen the potential disaster created by charging elephants.

But if they do include they war-falcons, we would actually have an air-force in total war... wow http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/shock.gif

Maybe they can also include the war-pigeons, you know, as fighter bombers http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Don't laugh about the sparrows

There's a couple of cases attested to where a beseiging general noticed sparrows flying out of cities in the morning to feed, then back in the evening - then capturing lots of them, tied burning string to them & set them free to head off home and set fire to the thatched roofs they were nesting in

I just read a very intresting book about the use of eagles in the american civil war. In McClellan's Penisular Campaign between April-June 1892 Northern officers commented on the extensive use of Rebel spotter ballons being used outside Richmond. Gustavus Smith (at the time General Johnstons second in command) commented that specially trained eagles should be trained to fly upto the ballons and tear at them with the claws. After reading that reference i tryed to find some evidence that shows if they were actually used or not. Still not found anything yet http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

ROFL, yes we need clarification for CA to implement it correctly.

I have a WWII game that uses dolphins to locate sea contact mines. Also has anyone else heard about Patton using termites to diffuse the German shoe box land mines? I'm still looking for the book I read it in, I think it was Janes Fighting Animals.

I want to have a religious conflict over the power of Brian's shoe or gourd.

How about having Suicide Squads that run up to the enemy and then stab themselves?

Can I marry Buttox Intercontinentia?

Actually this was a common tactic during a siege in medievel times. (Hey another one to throw into the much needed patch lol) What the purpose was to do was take an anmial corpse try to hit there water supply and fowl there drinking water. Once it was done with the kings son who tried to offer a treaty. The very first time air mail was used in history thats recorded lol.

Now how about war chihuahas

information parchment after you right click on there icon

War Chihuahas

Commonly used in a quick night raid where the yappers were quickly dispatched near the tents of the enemy. These dogs could easily disrupt an armies sleep for at least half of the night. Constantly yapping and great skirmishers as they could eveade capture hours on end.

Warrior Falcons... with master armorer upgrades... and master weapons upgrades... fierce li'll booger indeed.

Vanya sez... Falcons are for kids to poke each other's eyes out

Vanya sez... Want war bird? Use Aussie Magpie. No training needed. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif

Vanya also sees uses for other animals and whatnot on battlefield.

Tapeworm Tarzans
These are worm-infested peasants that swing from trees onto unsuspecting enemy formations. They are the "suicide bombers" of the ancient era. The idea is the enemy will chop them to pieces, and in doing so, will be covered in gore and the worms will migrate into the new hosts as a result. This will weaken the enemy and sap their morale.

Booby Traps
Send naked women and sheep out to wander aimlessly near enemy formations. The distraction will give you time to encroach upon their position "undetected" (term used loosely),

Shit Pits
Dig long trenches in front of your defensive position and fill them with the vilest animal excrement you can gather. Pigs, cows, elephants... just pile the dung into the hole. Cover with light grass coating and wait. When the enemy stumbles into the cesspool, fire ignited arrows into the shit pits and sit back and enjoy the barbecue as the hapless enemy is consumed in the napalm of antiquity

Skunk Works
Nothing disrupts an enemy phalanx like the sudden appearance of a formation of hostile skunks. Their odoriferous attack will have them coughing and crying and not paying attention to your advancing infantry

Pirate Talk
Get some parrots and perch them on trees and shrubs along the path of the enemy. Teach them to spew all kinds of vulgarities at the enemy. They will be so incensed at the birds that they will go off chasing them instead of laying siege to your castle

Brimstone Doggies
For thousands of years, packs of wild Shih Tzus have roamed the steppes of asia, laying waste to the vast rich lands there. These dogs were so feared, that their presence retarded the growth of human settlements until the last 500 years or so. The Chinese emperors adopted some of these dogs as personal bodyguards and used them to great effect in their efforts to expell the Mongol hordes from their lands. In the years following Chinese independance, only the Emperor and his Shih Tzus were allowed into the Forbidden City. These dogs are widely known throughout asia as "nature's most efficient killing machine on land". Get a pack of these warhounds and watch your enemies run for their mamas like tennis balls trying to escape Fido
