I believe senior member is reserved for people who have made a significant contribution to the community. If you look in the members section you will see that there are very few senior members. Btw...why exactly is this in the sword dojo?

There are 32 senior members out of a total of 4613 4614 registered members.

or

1 out of every 144 members.

Were 9 more promoted?

Konnichiwa,

BigJoy is a test account I made when setting this board up.

Others are AdminTest (is AM now, to check this new groups options) and various Test, to check new registrations and code.

Yes, there are more 'promotions': I add a couple every now and then.

Not being promoted is not a no, 'just' not yet.

Lol I was seriously thinking the same about myself.

TBH I didn't even notice I was a 'Senior Member' till a couple of months ago. I just assumed it was due to longevity, or old age or something (I had a different account going some way back even before this one).

Wow 500 posts. When I first joined I never thought I'd post 500 times. OMG

I have a suggestion. We have Junior and Senior Patrons, and that makes sense. We have Senior Members, and that makes sense. Senior Members are folks who have been here a long time, who contribute.

Maybe a simple thing like changing the name from Junior Members to Members. When one looks at the numbers, most are in the Junior Member category. But most of the folks in that category are, in fact, members. The Junior folks are the Patrons. The bulk of us are members of The Org. A few are Senior Members.

Maybe its just something about the word Junior.

Don't mean to cause trouble on the occasion of my 500th post. This is my favorite site on the web, I really enjoy it here. Have learned a lot, made some friends, hopefully helped out.

Now I get to change my avatar (had planned on keeping it, since it was unique and gift from early on in recognition of my STW heritage, but now I share with it with others and think I'll go custom). That will make me happy and glad that I have the privilege to do so.

This is all Gregoshi's fault. He was nice to me from the very start, and that encouraged me to keep coming here. He also made me (rather unofficially I think) the Chief Sniffer, a role that I have played only once in the last year. Well, here I am again, with a simple idea to make things, well, better.

Probably a lot of work, but I thought I'd throw it out anyhow.

Actually, Nowake has another ideea. As we have Rome coming out, lets go roman. And the fact is that they were splitting their armed corps by experience, so why not:

Junior Patrons: Velites
Senior Patrons: Hastati
Junior Members: Principes
Senior Members: Triarii

And the title shows itself that ones a vet or not. What do you have to say about this, ichi-san and the others?

Konnichiwa ichi san,

Congratulations with your 500th post. You may find some other options in your control panel as well.

My V&V list doesn't show a high score for choosing names. Any suggestion to improve the names are welcome. Changing them is no problem at all, it just requires deleting six keyboard characters in one field.

Konnichiwa Nowake san,

That's yet another fine idea. Though I guess we'll have to wait at least till RTW is out: those terms are quite unknown.

These forums allow adding a groupicon. So, you could do something like adding a yellow bar to Junior Patrons and a black one to Senior Members (not saying that those icons would be nice, just an illustration). I'ld have to check whether I disabled the code for that during the many edits.

You could drop the groups and go with icons or do both.

Konnichiwa Nowake san,

Understand that you type much faster than I do. Your posts weren't there yet when I compiled mine.

Seems I did something to the groupicons, for I added one to a group and it didn't update. Probably turned it off somewhere.

Since this community is made of of diverse MTW players, Shogun, VI etc.
So to lable all of us with roman titles seems incorrect and maybe a bit individualistic for these forums.
I like the idea of doing away with the Junior member title as it is confusing to many , some who actually think they have been demoted when the title is given to them.
Member sounds good to me...LOS

Actually, I liked the idea until I realized that it would look a bit stupid if my rank said I was, for example, a man-at-arms, while my group said I was a Principes.
Changing 'junior member' into 'member' would be sufficient for now.

I would also say change Junior Member to Member.
The Roman terms like principes could be used as member title untill one can choose a custom title.

Found the switch. It has to be turned on for each skin. I just updated Guild Large. It's possible to hide the text for the membergroup and display a picture, or both.

No problem, slow update happends http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/flat.gif thanks for answering on such a short notice anyway.

As to the roman titles, I just thought that it would show very clear the vet status of each and everyone. It's probably too soon, indeed, but as ichi-san brought it up, just thought to give it a go.

I just noticed that the "Junior Members" have become simply "Members", and I support this course wholeheartedly. Yet changing the ratings to Roman terms would be somewhat…premature, let's say?
