I just discovered that there was a story forum when has it been up since? Froggy, seems like you got a job that you really had talent in Congrats as for my story, i just lived it out yesterday in mp. its mainly about how the breeze of war can change in a few seconds. Hope you enjoy it. I know there isnt a map called toulose in the mp (not one that is created by ca the least) but the factions fighting made it logically toulose. Enjoy.(please note that the real amounts of the soldiers whave been multiplied by ten to make it more realistic)

It was early in the day. There were no birds chirping nor leaves singing their song with the wind. Just a steady march of steady englishmen and the remote rythym of english allies raising a cloud of dust behing their stomping feet.

The general stood with a demeanour which was demour, upright and formidable on his black horse which was armoured with shiny metal plates hammered to perfection. He sat on his horse so confidently that there seemed that virtually no enemy of his could stand against his sword. He pulled his horse to a halt. He ordered their camp to be built right there. It was a fertile field with green embracing them with all its beauty, smothering their shiny cold metal like a black dot on sunlight.

The camp was a modest one, the preparations for war was nearly over. Men sharpened their swords, polished their armour, some repaired it, the blacksmith had a lot to work on since they had just won a costly battle. The mounted sergeants general Richard had sent retuned towards the evening. The Aragonese bought themselves huge mercenary army of turks sire. They are on the east side of the field 5 miles from where we stand. Not many cavalry sir mostly swordsmen it seems. The turks are concealed in the forest but i may say with no hesitation that they are a full stack of 14000 soldiers or more sire. send our allies the information, tell him we shall set march on dawn and stick together yes sire general the sergeant said and took off. He was a fair man, his blonde hair falling off his forehead and his blue eyes glazing with the youth inside his soul. Maybe he will be a knight like me, one day richard thought, since he had seen all the qualities of a knight boiling inside the man as he had felt it in himself many winters before. He was in his mid 30s now with a considerable number of battles fought through and the emperor has at last called him in and promoted him to a general.

The dawn struck swiftly. Richard had had no sleep that night before. He never did in any situation such. He spent the night thinking and thinking. He prayed to God to sharpen his blade when he needs it that may his hand be stable under the weight of his sword.

They reached the meeting point not very later on. he could see the Aragonese setting up for the battle. He discussed with the other general whether they should attack the turks first which were in the forest right in the center of the map. They reached a compromise that richards army would go and take the aragonese preferably on the slope if they can reach it and the allied would take the turks in the forest, and if richard would finish the aragonese he would join the fight in the forest.

Richards army set march northeast towards the slope as fast as they can without tiring the men too much. The aragonese were trying to pull off the same manouver so he send one unit of his knights to march quickly on the slope. the footmen followed him and the two armies clashed at the top where richard only had 1800 chivalric men at arms and 400 knights. he ordered his CMAA to engage the enemy and hold them up until the reinforcements came. Whilst the longbowmen and crossbowmen peppered the aragonese king. Richard sent another 600 CMAA to cover the hilltop. they went around the lines of the enemy and charged them in the rear. he sent all his militia sergeants to engage their knights and 400 knights far away to the left to hit their general in the rear. he circled the enemy units with his mounted sergeants and charged his own unit of knights right in to the enemy lines which were just about to break his CMAA. This charge discouraged the nearly circled top line of teh enemy and caused them to break the lines and flee with terror only to discouver the mounted sergeants were waiting for them in the rear. Whilst on the lower slope the aragonese king and antother unit of knights were putting up a tough fight against the militia sergeants but they didnt stand much of a chance. The militia sergeants worked their way through the knights and killed them with ease. Then richard pulled a surprising manouver and withdrew one of the MS sergeants from the fight. he charged his knights right through that gap and told the militia sergeants to go around him and close the back. But as soon as he charged in the knights broke and the king started fleeing. There were not many survivors from these two circled enemy forms but they rest were chased off by the Mounted sergeants. Richard gazed up at once and saw the blonde warrior he was thinking of last evening was lying on the field coughing blood and his body motionless. He grimaced at the moments sadness, he grew weary but then shrugged and regrouped his tired men and formed a line to join the battle in the forest. He heard a wild war-horn which was a cry for help from his allies. he ordered all his archers to shoot any man they see, knowing that it was the only thing they could do. he charged his disheartened men to the flank of the enemy but it was not very long before they broke. he rallied his men again this time he tried to lure the saracen infantry out of the forest and they did, they charged out the forest with a huge mass of men. He was just outflanking the saracens with the remnants of his knights but the janissary heavy infantry rushed out the forest and battered the knights. richard saw the allies working through the enemy line faintly so he ordered the men to rally for the last time in effort to give his allies some time to fight their way through while he held up these saracens and JHI. he ordered every single man to charge. even the crossbowmen with their daggers, longbowmen and even he himself charged. the JHI broke off but the saracens held. His men couldnt carry the burden of so many casualties. just as he withdrew his own unit from the fight and get to the flank the CMAA and militia sergeants routed. it was followed by a wave of knights and longbowmen, crossbowmen and at last his own knights started to flee with terror. Richard having nothing to do, ran away from the field, his eyes facing the green fields now crowned by a river of red and the for the first time ever, he had changed his posture to an awkward and inconfident stance. the aragonese were defeated, 12000 killed in the deathtrap richard set for them, the rest captured, wiped off the field. 7000 of his men lied dead on the field and another 800 captured. He had done his duty but could not succeed in clearing the turks off, thus toulose was lost to a tribe of mercenary turks, and aragonese empire collapsed. Richard turned his horse back glanced at the field for the last time and rode off into the field...

It's good to see you back Balamir http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

The story and PBM forums were set up around 8th August after a campaign started by Louis de la Ferte Ste Colombe, you can find the campaign and log of the early days here (http://www.totalwar.org/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=24;t=9490). It's a split forum with the Mead Hall housing stories and screenshots and the Throne Room housing PBM logs, write ups etc. I got voted assistant moderator for the Mead Hall and Demon of Light was voted into office for the Throne Room. We both have limited powers so ShadesWolf does most of the hard work deleting stuff, KuriKhan is a temporary mod for this forum and he will be moving back to his normal forums soon.

Technically speaking this topic should probably be in the Mead Hall but this is Demon of Light's forum so it is his decision on whether to move it over.
