How to play total war online with gamespy?

Hi All

just bought my total war medievel cd.
But as i was trying to connect to a server in gamespy,
i could not connect
Why is that? Where do i plot in my cd-key?

You have to load the game and then click on Multiplayer, Play online. You should see there you have to put in the CD-Key and your Gamespy account details.

You don't need to load up Gamespy at all.

Do you already have a GameSpy account setup from another computer game? If not, you will have to start GameSpy Arcade and create an account to use. Once you've done that, then you can simply use the MTW/VI multiplayer option from within the game to get on to the GameSpy servers.

If you have any more specific questions about this, please post them.

Thought I would make my first post here in this topic rather than create another thread. I recently have had problems logging into MTW multiplayer through the multiplayer menu. I always get account details incorrect. I have tried making other ID`s with other e-mails and changed my username numerous times. Today I tried logging on for about 20 minutes to no avail. I have found that some other members have posted similiar problems in the technical section of this forum. If anyone knows a valid solutionto this problem could you please tell me?? I really want to start kicking some butt on multiplayer again

I have recently attempted to try the MP aspect of MTW nad although I set my gamespy acct up with no problems, its the CD key thats giving me troubles, I have made numerous attempts to add my CD key and log on to no avail I get Invalid Cd Key errors, I eventually contacted Activision by phone and there policy is to tell customers to go back to where you purchased the game and exchange it for another copy in hopes a new CD key will solve the problem Thas B.S. The whole system leaves alot to be desired, very poorly setup. LOS

I've had some difficulties too(and don't play anymore in MP, I'm too crappy)? But I remember that typing the CD-Key in CAPS did help, that I had mistaken zeroes for 0 letters(that was zeroes), and that typing the - character did solve up my last problems.

You probably already know this LOS, but I'll chime in anyway. I recently tried to log into MP for the first time in over a year. Failed because of invalid cd key. Tried again, and again. Failed, cursed a lot, and tried again. In desparation I finally tried my VI cd key and it worked. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/dizzy.gif Hopefully yours is something simple like that.

No Jacque unfortunatley its not that simple for me, I tried my VI key to no avail MANY TIMES I tried all the suggestions etc. I guess its just a bum key now I have to return my game and hope they exchange it for a new copy LOS

looks like i'm having this exact same prob and i'm NOT gonna be exchanging my game to get it fixed

i'm calling Activision Tech Support and am gonna yell and scream til they solve my prob over the phone

never heard of a game released with non-working CDkeys til now. this is an outrage. and looks like it's been going on for a LONG TIME seeing as i bought the Battle Collection in March of this year http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif
