Greetings dear patrons of the org http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I am going to do a Master's program, next year (2004), or if necessary due to admission time constraints, I'll go for 2005. I am interested in the following:

-Military History (doh ), preferably Oriental
-Asian Studies
-Management (MBA type)
-Political Science

The choice of program depends a lot on future income capacity, although if I had my way I'd try to go for Military History. Problem is I don't think I can do Military History or the other options, becuase that would mean a far poorer income in the future. Getting a bit older, I need to think about the next generations and hence I'll probably opt for a Management program and ideally pursue some history, politics on the side. Sounds unlikely that I may be able to achieve that, so I guess I'll have to stick with a Management degree.

I am not confined by geography, and am willing to go wherever necessary to get a good education, a good student life and a generally time_of_a_lifetime experience. Sounds geeky ? well I love learning http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

Finally as a background I have an undergraduate degree: Bachelor of Business Administration, magna cum laude with majors in Finance & Marketing, received 1997. I have 4 years of experience in banking + 1 year as head of sales and marketing for a consumer electronics firm.

It's time to get back to school for me, I think.

I'd be most grateful if any of the org members could give me some tips (names, locations etc..) on post-graduate schools.

Cheers and many thanks for your help. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

i guess it depends on where you wanna go...here in canada i can highly reccommend 2 unis for mili history at the MA level. laurier in kitchener-waterloo (which will also provide a student-time-of-your-life experience) or the university of alberta. scholarship/bursary money is in ample supply at both.
good luck

Thx very much, again. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif
Any more suggestions from everyone are welcome, naturally, as my search has only just begun. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/pat.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I should warn you Sinan, that should you seek your education in the far east you will inevitably be influenced by the host country. The major players in the region, Japan, China, and South Korea, have peculiar ideas about their asiatic kin and tend to indoctrinate their students with their prejudices. Something outside their traditional spheres of influence may be more objective in their presentations. Good luck with your adventures

I looked into military history programs a bit, and I think that Duke University in Durham, North Carolina (USA) kept coming up.

Seljuk… changed your name?
What can I say, come to Australia m8...
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) gives you experience for the real world and I think they have a pretty good MBA course.
You get all the perks; summer all year, beautiful beaches on the gold coast and on the sunshine coast, the great barrier reef, 1000’s of Scandinavian babes on campus and even more Asians babes for your personal Asian studies... if you know what I mean http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
With your talents, you could probably do a double degree... BA/IT which is possible here.
