I´m just wondering.. Do you guys ever cheat?
Like more money og iron in all provinces.

I like to use the .matteosartori. (See all of the map). Its boring not too see entire europe, and it would be too difficult to use Emmisaries or spies...

I Rarely cheat... I've used .unfreeze. for heir sometimes in vikings, prepatch, but thats it...

I rarely cheat...

I have used the .worksundays. cheat on rare occasions because I think that some of the big castles take far too long to build.

Of course the .unfreeze. cheat is the one I'd be most likely to use in VI.

But generally its very rare for me to use any cheats at all... I just like to develop things and conquer it on my own back.

I really look down on cheating and couldn't face myself if I cheated. No reloading or other crap for me.

.unfreeze. saved me many times in VI. Other than that I use .matteosartori. to check the map when I am modding the game. The game is too easy to need any real cheats.

I never cheat. Why should I. It would only spoil all the fun - the struggle. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wacko.gif

I've used .unfreeze. when I had to, but other than that I never use cheats while playing. I do sometimes use .matteosartori. for fun, but not that often, and not to gain any sort of advantage.

I don't use the coded cheats except sometimes I use matteosartori at the end of a playing session, just to get a rough idea of how the game is going overall, not for the purpose of deciding my strategy.

I do reload saved games from time to time. Sometimes because I've made a basic error, like forgetting to check and manage my loyalty levels before ending the turn. I don't even regard reloads as cheating - I see it more as a what if? exercise. I'm not entering my games in any competitions - so there is nobody to cheat.

Someone remarked that they look down on cheating. In a single player game, as I say, there is no-one to cheat - play for you own enjoyment. Your own enjoyment might include playing on Iron Man or playing with every cheat in the book. It's your call. Just enjoy the game - that's what matters.

is it even possible to cheat in multiplayer?

Just wondering? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

I have used them all except the map cheat at various times. Those games go in the loss stack, but can be useful to learn from.

I've used .unfreeze. for pre-patch VI, first 3 or 4 games of MTW i did frequent reloading. I've reached the point that i never reload (in a fit of weakness i did a reload this summer and quit after another turn, it totally ruined my enjoyment of that campaign). IMO the game has enough weaknesses that they deserve the human to throw them a bone once in a while.

what does unfrezze do? cant find it on any faq's.

i used dead ringer once in VI, then started a new game cause there was no challenge left. i tried badgerbunny to see what it would do....DOH

.unfreeze. gives you a heir, which you sometimes had to do in VI to not lose the game.

Well never had the misfortune of an heirless kingdom but thats about the only way I'd reload a game and go back. I think it really sucks that the game is over and would much more prefer a civil war or even better recently conquered provinces go rebel right away and whats left is a civil war

I do remember it was a long night and was between battles so I did a quick save and autoresolve to come back and finish it the next night. Well I fight the battle where the autoresolve won but lost it when I commanded the battle. It was a tough battle as I had the Byzantines outnumbered 4 to 1 but I kept the loss as is.

King well at least theres less of them
Disloyal general yeah and a whole lot less of us

Personally I despise cheats. It's spoiling the fun and especially in games like Total War. I hope there won't be any cheats in RTW, but that's just a dream.

*bows*

There was a short period of time when I used cheats. Almost all of them. It was a deliberated and well prepared action, and I wanted to see how it is to be Almighty http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/tongue.gif

I played the entire campaign with the Spanish cheating and I admit having fun. Perhaps because I know I was cheating for the sake of… cheating http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

Since then I don’t use any cheats. Never, no matter how hard my campaign gets. It wouldn't make sense.

used all of them when i started playing MTW, once i got the hang of the game i phased them out and now i don`t bother with them.

only used .unfreeze. with VI a few times, with the patch out i don`t even have to do that anymore.

i don`t have a problem with anyone else using cheats in SP, but any possible form of cheating in MP is just sad.

I regularly use .matteosartori. because I just love to see how the differents factions develop and the history evolves.
Unfortunately this cheat reveals too much information.
It would be great to have a map-cheat that only shows you which province belongs to which faction (and think its realistic that you know who rules in which faction)without revealing the army stacks etc.

I've used .matteosartori. to plan my inital attack then removed it.

What does .badgerbunny. do ?

Brutal DLX
10-17-2003, 12:01
I often use .matteosartori. until I got enough ships and emissaries to switch it off. I don't use it because I want to plan my attacks, but I'm curious what's going on, plus it's ridiculous that and empire would have no information about what other empires do, or at least about where their realm actually is. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Oh no.. I never cheat... http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/idea.gif

I also use .matteosartori. in the beginning, but usually only to see where the kings of other factions are to make alliances and marry my princesses out... or to know when its a good time to send a crusade out to help the Byzantines. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif

Only .matteosartori.

It's a usefull tool (although it shows too much), and i think it should be built-in.

In answer to Lancer63 yes the ai does cheat it will give

Quote[/b] (monkian @ Oct. 17 2003,05:27)]What does .badgerbunny. do?
All buildings and units are unlocked. Quite boring cheat because it's much more satisfying to see your empire grows because of some really good moves you've done.

Rather defeats the purpose of the game http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

From the main campaign map type them in, make sure you include the leading and trailing periods (like .unfreeze. )

Cortez

Cortez has never used a cheat... not even once. Where is the fun in that?

On the other hand Cortez considers that allowing the AI to deploy artillery when attacking open field is cheating and tries to kill said artillery ASAP in order to face a full army.

Cortez out.

The only one I've ever used is .unfreeze. which seemed fair enough since your leader would only live 56 years.

I only cheated twice - for a reason..in a unique way...

Both times i had HUGE battle, which i barely survived, and it lasted over 2 hours..I was facing atlest 3x number of high quality troops..when i finaly won game crashed http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

i was VERY mad..so i started GnomeEditor, picked a unique unit in my army i had - Polish retainers, and set it up to INSANE combat stats...then loaded the game and send 4 of them after 3k+ enemy troops...They routed 3k enemy off the field in about 15 minutes, kiling over 1200, taking 800 prisoners, and loosing total of 20 men http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif

after that i changed them back and continued my game http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
