I'm just working through some of the Battle Campaigns. I've completed the first two of the Saladin ones, and have lost the third three or four times. But that isn't the problem (well, ok, that's a different one http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif). The problem is that it isn't letting me play that battle anymore http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif When I click on the last battle I won, instead of giving me the 'Continue Campaign' option, it merely gives me 'Re-enact this Battle'. Any ideas? Is it a bug?

http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Greetings Marlowe. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif Welcome aboard

Are you sure there are more battles in that campaign? You will only get the continue campaign if there are more battles to fight. I don't recall the specific number of battles in that campaign, but some only have 3 battles. It has been awhile since I've played the campaigns, but I recall that you see all the battles listed in the campaign, but the ones you can't play yet are greyed out(ghosted). Are there any greyed out battles on the list of battles after that third one? If there are, then I'd expect you to see the continue option. Otherwise reenact is what you should and do see.

Can someone else confirm this? I'll try to fire up the game later and verify it.

Hi Gregoshi http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wave.gif

It's the third battle that it's not letting me play. Yes it is greyed out. But when I click on the second, which I've completed, it's not giving me the 'Continue Campaign' option. Instead I get 'Re-enact'. It's even more annoying because I can't play the Richard campaign until I've done this one.

Very strange Your best bet if you want to press on with the campaigns is to just re-fight the second battle and win. Most of the historical campaign battles don't last very long, so it shouldn't set you back too much to re-fight it...unless you can't beat the second battle again. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

BTW, is this MTW or VI? And with or without the patch for either?

Yes, I was thinking I might have to re-fight the 2nd battle. As long as it doesn't prevent me playing the third again afterwards It was ok until I closed Total War last time, so I'll have to make sure I win beforehand http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

I am playing TWM with the 1.1 patch.

Yes.. sometimes this does happen. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif
If you ever upgrade to VI, better finish all custom battles/campaigns before updating, because your progress will be reset to start for all of them http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

Also you'll like the Lionheart battles, one I very very narrowly won, and that was on normal setting.. (hint..it's the one where you are with your back to the wall, literally.:))

Yes, I'll finish the battles I want to play before buying Viking, which I'm considering getting. I do have a (quite petty) problem playing the French against the English though. So I might have to give the Joan of Arc one a miss http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Persevere as the Lionheart campaign is good - the last battle (Jaffa) is pretty tense although I reckon it was harder in the demo - certainly more enemy cav swarming around.

As far as the Joan of arc campaign I can't even win the first battle but can't bring myself to play any lower than normal setting Give it a go it seems to be the most challenging.

Just had a thought is there any way to mod the campaigns to be available without playing through them - this could save you replaying battles again.

I don't know, perhaps it's saved in some config file, if so, then you could copy it from soemone else who already completed them all.
About the French campaign, it's not that hard, but requires some tricks. Most of the battles do, it's always worthwhile to look closely at the battle goals, you don't need to rout the enemy each time to win, in case of the first French battle, the objectives are pretty clear. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif The Loire Valley one is quite tricky, I'd say I had to ask our fellow org posters for help http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif

I decided to replay the previous Saladin battle, and after one half-hearted attempt, I won it again. Then I played Acre a few times and won it on the third. After that I won the first Lionheart one immediately in about 10 mins Bizarrely enough though, it still doesn't say I won the Acre battle and therefore that campaign But at least it no longer prevents me playing the Lionheart one.

The Loire valley battle sounds good, especially if it features a typical castle of the region. But can I play the English instead of the French? http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
