It seems that ever since I updated MTW with the 1.1 patch yesterday I've had encountered nothing but little bugs. I might well have encountered them anyway, but I would have hoped the patch would have sorted them out. This time I'm having problems with the custom battle. I have a saved configuration. I click on it, choose 'Continue' and set the computer units to 'Random Units'. When I get to the page where you select your units, the computer one has none selected and no money left (or 30 florins or something) I click 'Continue' but it says one army has no units. So I can't get past this page http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/mad.gif

Maybe no one else is encountering these problems because they're not playing the battles and/or have Viking. I know more people play the Campaigns. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Sorry for being a whinging bugger in my first posts, I really do like the game http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif

Strange. Try rebuilding the configuration and saving it with the patch installed and try again. I checked the readme, but saw nothing mentioned under custom battles. Maybe there is an incompatibility issue with the saved configurations between v1.0 and v1.1.

I have to admit I haven't played a custom battle since VI came out, but I never had the problem you described. The only little bug I had was the continue button becoming invisible and one had to guess-click where it is lol.

Did you try creating a new custom game without loading the old config? See if that works, perhaps your old config file got corrupted somehow. If that doesn't work either, try selecting the AI units manually (usually is better anyway, since the AI often picks crap units in random mode).
Well, perhaps another poster can help you along further...

Thanks for your responses. I actually created another config yesterday and the same thing happened again when I tried to reload it. I think I'm going to have to select the AI units myself. The reason I chose random was so that it would be a surprise, and picking the opposition team seems a bit odd. But as you say, the puter doesn't always do a good job of it anyway.
