Idea for the board, inspired by the conversion below:
I think there should be a dicussion catagory for each map so people could discuss strategies and characteristics for each one. This would then be a handy guide and reference for everybody.

You can do that here, or prehaps write up a strategy for the map and send it to Dan or IL to be posted on the strat page.

Kinda like Prima did with the province description, only this one would give tactical advice http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

Good idea Horatio, us nautical types must think alike http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

I am currently in the process of putting together just such a "guide". My goal is to include a description of the map along with it most salient points (where to defend, how to attack, etc.) along with a ranking of how easy/difficult it is to attack/defend on.

Not being a web geek (just a database geek), I'm doing this in Powerpoint which I understand ports to the web fairly well. I'll be sure to keep you all posted as this project progresses.

I don't mean to offend, but saying that Powerpoint is useful for web pages, is like saying a lawn mower is good for chopping salad. Yeah, it'll work, but I wouldn't want to eat it. At the same time, I'd like to get a copy of it when you're done!

BTW, I AM a web geek, so I can do a translation for you if you like.

No offense taken Banzai! Just remember that it was my understanding, not my assertion that it would port. I will defer to you and any other webheads out there.

I've been converting .tga screenshots to JPEG's , inserting them into ppt slides and adding the text boxes with tactical discussions. Powerpoint works for me since it allows me to setup the slides easily (I've got a lot of exp with ppt)

My intent is to cover all of the maps (except the castle and tutorial maps) including Magyarorsag and Tami Kotchi. Anyone wanting to add their two cents worth on this please feel free.

Obake,

Maybe on EA play you could ask people to play those "rare" maps Blood is talking about, friendly of course. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/biggrin.gif

I'd help, and I'm sure half the dojo would too http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

I like the idea of the same person/people doing the guide. Too many cooks... and all that http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/smile.gif
