Very true. It runs decent on my system but I have invested in a HOTAS and a TRACKIR2, coz the game is so damm good. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/eek.gif

Even so the PC which can run this game at highest settings doe not exist. Sometimes sitting on the tarmac, when you do a control + slash or control plus asterix (external 3d views), you just can't believe how detalied this sim is, and how detailed the graphics are. It is really lifelike. Some of the movies and screenies from this game look totally real.

It's very exciting to see threads about LOMAC popping up at such random places as... an MTW site Generally, flight sims don't do very well sales-wise, which keeps the publishers away which equals no new flight sims. But, maybe LOMAC isn't doing too badly................

Oh, and for anyone who has it and might not know: There is a patch out already which fixes many issues. A second patch is expected soon.

Well some flight sims offer plenty of opportunity for tactics and strategy. LOMAC is one of them. The second patch is going to be out soonm which is great but the game will still need another few. I mean Falcon 4, you could not even go online 1vs1 let alone anything else. In LOMAC I've already gone 8 vs4 etc...so it's working though not as good as it should.

It is a really great sim, the best I have seen since F4.

What kind of horsepower are you running the game on?

And if you fly just to check out the scenery, no other planes, how far up can you crank the details and how drollish does it look?

Even with low details it is still good, because it simulates just as well. Of course you can't see the small bushes and bunnies running from bush to bush, but the radar and planes look cool enough

My specs (IIRC)

-P4 2.6 Northwood
-Radeon 9700 PRO
-1 GIG RAM (not the fastest one but the 2nd class cant remember what its called)

The game runs fine on about medium settings, with 8X AA and 8X AF. Though I can run it at much higher settings I usually dont because of my online friends. With online play you need modest settings to avoid local (not network) lag.

I can run the game totally maxed out with max AA and AF, 1600*1200 resolution and totally maxed settings, but this really slows my FPS to about 1-7. The game is VERY advanced in terms of graphics and you can see every little detail, on every single object.

The PC to run this game on totally maxed out settings does not exist, yet, IMO . The next generation cards after RAD9800 type should be able to run this game on max settings with FPS higher than 60. Actually at the moment with 9800PRO and some tweakn you can run this game at max settings and get like FPS about 35 average or more but most people dont know how to exploit their cards like that so they get lower FPS. Mind you FPS of 10-12 is perfectly adequate to play the game, in this game if FPS is like 12-15 it's running great and smooth.

Now having said all that we got a guy in the squadron with an MX card, and he flies just great. Of course he has his settings lower but he can play just fine, and he flies formation with me like 5 meters apart, no lag no problem. However he does get lagged up when the mission gets really heavy e.g more than 12 planes on the screen etc.

It's the best sim I played since Falcon and Flanker, that's for sure. It's worth every minute and every second of my time. I just love this sim so much.

Yep, gotta get it. I'm much more of a prop-sim junkie, but I just love eye candy.

I have an XP2000/512RAM/GF4-4200. I'm going to up to a 3Ghz/1G RAM/9800 Pro this spring. That should let me up the details a bit. Can't wait.

Should be a good sysytem for IL2-FB also. I get good FPS at near max settings as is, but once there's 20+ planes up there with me, the FPS can get choppy.

For me, 20FPS is the magic number. Below 10-12 is GAH. 15 is good. 20 is very good, nice fluidity. Anything over 25 is gravy.

When I upped my system to what it is now and loaded up Janes WWII Fighters, I was getting 60+ FPS with a sky full of bombers. That was bootylicious. Would love to see an IL2 furball at 60FPS. Would probably wet my pants. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-blush.gif

Thanks. Yes those are in game. I photshopped em a bit but you can see the game pretty much like that if you have a decent PC. I posted a movie in my last post which is an even better way to see the game and artistic talent.
