Any body here play the Elder Scrols games? I have only playe Morrowind and Tribunal. What mods are good in that game? I've been looking around but many are still in the works like the middl-earth mod. Personally I would like to see more Roman mods

Sir Moody

there are very few completed total coversions for Morrowind (Elder scrolls 3) but there are hundreds if not thousands of good mods for the game which very from added quests to new playable races and monsters - the Engine and the construction tool that comes with the game is very very flexable and versitile and ive made a few mods myself for it (nothing graphical im striclty a scripter)

THe only game I have ever been truely able to mod was medieval totalwar. And the only thing I did then, was give the nations I was going to play more provinces and a citadle and full buildings in each http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif . And make aqiubusiers capable of anihalating any unit ever

Have a look at www.morrowindfiles.com, they have a lot of mods. I had/have a nice house mod which can train you up a bit (Though i think you need a good lock picking skill to get in). It had loads of cool things in from what i remember. It was called the abandoned flat mod.

yeah thats cool do you know of any roman mods? I have looked but to no avail... I did find that in the game the Imperial Legion Guild is sort of Legionaryish

Sir Moody
02-23-2004, 20:42
the entire Empire and Imperail race is ment to give a Roamn feel as thats was the idea behind the Imperials - you will find mos tthe people making new factions and stroy stuff will be veterans of the passed 2 Eldar Scrolls games and they wont do any full on Roman stuff - there is a few good mods that act LIKE Romans but the game allready does that...

http://www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/modcontrols/mods.asp

Disable pop-up stopping if you have it running and want to use their excellent search engine.

Check out the Daedric Manor plug-in. It is outstanding. A vast castle east of Ghostgate with many guards, rooms and features. No uber stuff around but lots to do. Perfect for any powerful character who likes to walk on the dark side. I'd describe it in more detail but you need to see it to believe it. Trust me...

Morrowind is one of my favorite games due in no small part to the modding community.

The Tuffen

Tribunal is still good though, can't really remember playing it though - got bloodmoon about two weeks later after tribunal so i played bloodmoon instead. You should try and get your hands on the abandoned flat mod - especcially if you need training on stuff. It also has a side quest if my memory serves me correctly.

what was the last patch you downloaded. The last patch I know off was the one just after bloodmoon was released to correct some conflicts with tribunal (and prob some other stuff but the tribunal conflict is the only thing i remember it fixed as that was all i needed the patch for).

Efrem Da King
02-27-2004, 22:51
Moot point I was too lazy ot install it. I was scared it would fuck up my game, thats what the last mod I tried did.

My aim is to make a character strong enough to be able to become a vampire. I'm currently working on a mage.

What do you mean whats the point of becoming a vampire???

Whats the point of playing the game??

Whats the point of exploring the world??

To experience the game is the answer.

Scipio
02-28-2004, 07:57
If you are a vamp can you become a part of the 6'th Cult? Iv always wanted to try the dark side and become one with Dagoth Ur http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/smokin.gif

Efrem Da King
02-28-2004, 09:00
Well I doubt it, cause all npcs will attack you on sight if you are a vamp. INcluding town gaurds. THats one of the things the mod says it fixs.

Quote[/b] ]If you are a vamp can you become a part of the 6'th Cult? Iv always wanted to try the dark side and become one with Dagoth Ur

I remember some one asking this on another forum, and from what i remember is that you can't because there isn't a faction set up for it - ie. mages guild, fighters guild - and there is no conversation scripts on dagoth ur. So unless you mod in a new faction and enter some conversation text for Dagoth Ur there is no way to join the 6th cult (its prob a bit more complicated than that to mod it but i could only change attributes of items - i had problems putting new items into the game world http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

The Tuffen
03-01-2004, 02:12
Killing sprees are great fun, although i stopped playing Morrowind (till bloodmoon came out) because i got too powerfull. I was able to walk round places like ebonheart and caldera and just slaughter everyone without much damage to my health. So when bloodmoon came out I started a new character so that I wouldn't be too powerfull in it.

Efrem Da King
03-01-2004, 10:44
I start a new character most times I play.

I never ever use fast transport to get anywhere - unless i am in a hurry - that way i boost my athletics skill. Also jumping all the way to your destination helps build your acrobatics score up. To get your armour skills up, equip a complete set of armour of your choice and then find an enemy that doesn't do a lot of damage. You can then just let it hit you and eventually your skill should go up. The abandon flat mod has quite a few training things in it if i remember correctley.

Scipio

Efrem Da King

Well solstheim IS SOOOOOO COOL

Seeing a village built up before your eyes was just amazing, and experience I am about to repeat. The main quest needs VERY strong character to complete though, I can't get part the second mission.

The Tuffen
03-02-2004, 15:26
You should definatly get Bloodmoon, as Efrem Da King said you do need a very strong character. It is a lot harder to beat than normal morrowind. Their are some cool new enemies in it as well. Make sure you get the patch though if you havn't gone though tribunal as it causes a conflict with some conversation scripts and you get stuck in a neverending loop.

Scipio
03-03-2004, 02:29

Yep it's going to be a new continent. Don't know what it will be but it wont have anything to do with morrowind i don't think. The previous elder scrolls were based on different continents (i think one was were the imperials homeland is - but i cant be sure as i've never played the ones before morrowind).

Don't actually know if its officially confirmed yet though.

There are about a gagillion (new number) mods and plugins to the game. I have a file where I killed everybody in the world (except for thoes naked dancers in the House of Earthly Delights).
I've also created a file where (using soul gems) you can controll humanoids for a constant effect and become the sole and undisputed ruler of the universe.

The map is very usefull, it helped me find my way to stupid settlements. If you've lost it have a look around on the net. I've seen an online map at some point when i played morrowind regulary cos i'd lost my map)

As regards to specs of the machine needed to run, you won't need to worry for a while, i was looking on the elderscrolls.com's forums and there has been no official announcement yet so it is likely to be a while till it comes out unfortunatly http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/frown.gif

Oh by the way my orc is now level 18 and has a full suit of custom made ebony armour. With a helmet that has better armour rating but I'm not sure what type it is as it is magical. Constant effet fortify personality 30pts. My cuirass is ebony but has magic fortify health 50pts constant effect. And my boots are nordic mail I got of a random beserker Armour rating 162

My armour rating is 136

And I have the bi polar blade for tougth humans (that is just amazing) and the siver sword of paralisis, its one handed so I normally use it and only swap to the bi polar blade when my life is on the line. And if that fails go beserk and use one of my million random magic items that foritfy my attacks and strengh.

Perseverence. It is hard but eventually you will make it. Its the reason i like Bloodmoon so much as it is much harder. I even resurrected my extremly hard breton Battle mage to complete bloodmoon.

Quote[/b] ]Oh I think that was if you asked somebody about its whereabouts in the game then you would see on map like they pointed it out to you. I have done that with other quests is this what you mean?

I meant i looked on the actual paper map you get with the game. Couldn't find it using directions from the NPC's. Your best bet is to get a good levitation spell and run across the mountians from caldera.

Virtually everything is on the map. Squint closely and you will see each little door to a crypt is there, each shipwreck. The directions from NPCs are so bad sometimes that the map will save you a lot of time.

You can put notes on the ingame map by double clicking on it. I don't remember if a patch or an expansion added this feature.

You have to catch the diesese Lyconthropy, can't be done if you have done the main morrowind quest - alhthough there is an item which allows you to change into one http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif.

I have 100 endurance 100 strenght 100 longsword. But my current main weapon is a SUPER MAGIC MACE. One of the best weapons in the game. 10-90 10-90 10-10 8 frost damage. Unfortunatly my skill at it is crap. I aim to get blunt weapon the 100 block to 100 and agility to 100. Which as an orc will be no mean feat. They are currently all 60 something.

I used to go Golden Saint hunting just so i could get my constant effect items. I always had a constant effect breath underwater spell so i could swim to loads of different places + build my athletics score quicker.

I have 100 heavy armour and 100 endurance (and 110 strength thanks to the hunter http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif ) I can't wait to get my hands on daedric armour.

The Tuffen

If my memory serves me right you can get most of the deadric armour of the guy who cures you of corprus - make sure you get passed that bit of the quest before relieving him of his armour. Also you can get the deadric cresent out of one of his chests there.

If you want to check pieces of armours enchantment level have a look round the construction set. You can view/change all the stats of armour and weapons in it.

Lords Mail is also one of the best heavy armour's around (i thought it was the best but deadric may be better)

Bound armor and weapon spells can produce most daedric pieces. You can create a spell that combines all bound armor spells into one. With one caste you can have daedric armor for a minute without lugging all the weight.

Sir Moody
03-22-2004, 18:27
you can also create a constant enchantment with all the bound armours and get most of a suit tha tway weight free and perminant.... expensive however

Somebody Else

I found that the special armour types are better than standard armour - ie Lord's Mail is better than Daedric.

Also, summoned armour isn't truly Daedric armour - it's not as good.

Personally, I tend to stick with glass armour - losing the excess weight is much better - one moves faster, can jump higher and generally avoid being hit anyway.

Nice thing about glass armour - it's easy to get, there's lots of it, in the House vaults, waiting to be picked up.

There is a Mod some where that takes out the cliff racers altogether. I know its quite annoying at the start when you move sooo slowly.

Bloodmoon is brilliant, playing as a werewolf is a unique experiance - you have to feed once a night if i remember correctly or you'll wake up with health loss.

I also agree that the quests are quite different and don't always involve killing stuff.

And also a cheap way of gaining rank FAST in the Leigon is to talk to the body gaurd of Duke Venam Dren and chalenge him to a duel. He will meet you in the Arena, Vivic. Quote[/b] ]I found that the special armour types are better than standard armour - ie Lord's Mail is better than Daedric.

I think Lords Mail has the highest armour value around. Lords mail is my prefered armour along with the mask of klavicus (sp) vile then the rest is daedric.
Where do you find Lords Mail armour???
Lord's Mail is very good - but I find I actually prefer Ebony Mail (which is harder to get - but has the same defense rating, plus a resist fire and magicka)

Lord's Mail is obtained during a Legion quest from the chap next to the Duke, but can be aquired anyway if you know where to go.

Ebony Mail is obtained as part of a Temple quest from the Arch-high Canon or whatever he's called - and cannot be otherwise acquired.

My personal set of armour is Ebony Mail, Oreyn Bearclaw's Helm, Daedric Greaves (with 50 points of feather), Wraithguard, Daedric Left Gauntlet, Her Hand's Pauldrons, Eleidon's Ward and either Boots of Blinding Speed or Boots of the Apostle. I get an armour rating in the three hundreds. Most of the time, I leave all this stuff stashed somewhere and wear glass (still with the Ebony Mail, Wraithguard and Boots of Blinding Speed though)

whats Oreyn Bearclaw's Helm like? I've heard of it before but never bothered to check out what it is like.

It prob won't get me away from the mask of clavicus vile cos the personallity boost from it is very handy.

Spoiler Alert! Highlight to read. constant +40 agility +40 endurance
Heavy armor rating in the 140s I think.[/QUOTE]

Bearclaw is the over all best helmet in the game. I think it looks goofy though. The adamantium helm is my favorite.

Actually - it's probably better to wear no armour, but have some kit with lots of sanctuary enchantments - better not to be hit than to be able to take a lot of punishment.

I also use a spell that calms my target - preventing it attacking me, then doing something vicious, before calming it back down again.

Then again - I am a sly so and so.

I do know of people that have had lots of sanctuary enchancments, but i'd prefer not to as then you can beat anything as nothing can hit you (it takes out all the fun out of the game for me)

That is a good point. I do like the Berserker mentality though - if you see a mad naked dark elf running around wielding a claymore, be very afraid.

Because he'll run away and throw nasty spells at you. Or conjure up some nasty thing to fight. Or both.

I went back and edited the stats into a spoiler after I posted. It occurred to me that some people prefer discovering these sort of things themselves so I didn't want to cramp their style. Purists don't want to know ANYTHING about the game.

Since my philosophy is Play however you want, I don't mind telling folks what they want to know when they ask. I also don't want to wreck anyone else's pleasure in uncovering the mysteries of the game themselves.

My thief Khajiit is progressing well and I am having reasonable success with acquiring items. However, I utterly suck at combat. Bandits run up to me and I run screaming in fear. Rats take at least three hits to kill. How can I boost my light armor and short blade skills other than fighting? Training is an option, but it seems quite expensive.

Efrem Da King

FInd the weakest creature. THen let them hit you. make sure they ain't deseased. OF course rats normally do 1 damage to me and I have over 300 health and I block most hits so I can leave it on all day.

Lehesu, If i remember correctly Dark Brotherhood armour isn't that bad especially if you have just started.

If you really need your stats upgrading go to some of the trainers (if you have the money to).

Try looking for glass armour if you are using light armour as it has quite a high armour rating. If you don't use light armour it also sells for quite a bit.

Morrowind has officially entered Lehesu's OMFG Game Club.
Been playing my Khajiit for a while, in the Thieve's and Assassin's guilds. Still have not found any glass armor. Is this stuff ever sold or are they only found in dungeons (don't tell me exactly where)? Also started an Imperial game for a bit more swordplay.

In a good way obviously, this is morrowind we are talking about

You can't buy glass armour, at least not a full suit.

IF you get raw glass and A F*CKLOAD of money you can have a suit made for you in tribunal, but your looking at maybe 50-70k for a full suit and A LOT OF GLASS. There is a glass mine in the ghostgate.... But I don't recommend going into ghost gate until you are VERY VERY GOOD.

There is a person in soltshiem who wears a full suit of glass armour... but.... he is hard to kill. I won't tell you where he is unless you ask.

Lehesu
05-01-2004, 16:41
I found some glass greaves in the Urshilaku place. Pretty sweet. Since I am a Khajiit, no helm or boots so that just leaves cuirass and gloves/pauldrons.

Question on guard uniforms.
Indoril is medium.
Hlallu/Redoran is Bonemold, which is medium.
What armor is Telvanni?
What armor is used by the guards in Mournhold?

Efrem Da King

Good quistion

You should get snow wolfs armour, it can only be gotten by having it made from a reasonable amount of money and a lot of skins of snow wolfs (very hard to kill). So keep that in mind.

Just reviving this thread to ask all Morrowind players:

What plug-ins do you use/can't play without?

For me, some great mods would include:

Durzog Armor
Jeremy's Knights of Tamriel Series
Assassin's Armoury

Some of the Bethesda plug-ins are good/helpful as well.

Durzog Armor (http://orion.ramapo.edu/~fzazulka/)
Assassin's Armory (http://www.rpgplanet.com/morrowind/talon/index.html)
Knights of Tamriel (http://www.geocities.com/jw_mcguinn/armory.html)

These mods add, in order:
1. This adds one extremely tight looking medium-class armor set.
2. This mod adds hundreds of weapons and introduces duel-wield combos, with one weapon acting as a shield that averages your appropriate blade and block skills.
3. This series adds several extremely cool-looking and well-textured set of heavy armor, based on the 9 Divines.

As i said i think its a part of the temples pilgrimage quest, there are quite a few levels to it if i remember rightly and then in the last chamber there is forcefield that requires you to do something to lower it.

Hmm, I've never heard of these either. If you really really want to find out where the rest of the set is (if there is a set) try looking in the construction set. It lists all the items in it. You maybe able to find out where the rest is from there.
