I know how to start earlier but would very much like to extend the year that the game ends in so I can still get all the scripted events and inventions.

If some one could show me the way I'd be very happy.

Thanks in advance

If I remember correctly, the game ends if 1453. To change this, go to your startpos file for the era you want to start in, and near the beginning is a line that says something about end date, which is 1453. Just change this number. I'm not quite sure if it will work, because I have not tried it, but its the only suggestion I have. If it doesn't work, ask someone with more experience like Lord Krazy or Wellington. Hope that helps.

I think that works for start dates but not end dates. I'm at work and can't verify...

Thanks for the input tho.

Actually, the line isn't there for the normal campaign so you'll have to add:

SetGameEndDate:: nnnn

Where n is the year of your choice. For the Viking campaign, the line is already set to 1066 so you just change that to whatever you want.

This line goes in the same txt file where I'd change the start date? If so, does it matter where in there I place it? After or before sertain things?

Thanks for the help so far guys.

dunno

I doubt it matters but I guess to be safe, you can do the same as how CA placed it in the viking campaign, which is right after the SetLatePeriodStartDate line. And yes, it goes in the same file Early, High, Late, or Viking, text files depending on which period you play at that's located in MTW\campmap\startpos folder.

Thanks, you've all been very helpful & I'll give this a try tonite.

I wonder if you change the dates for the Viking campaign do you still get the time triggered events from the original campaigns?

I'll have to stop killing cats and go find out.

Thanks again folks

Nope End Date cannot be extended, on lowered so it could end in 1300 for example.

To have no end date set the start date as a number higher than 1453.

Uh, what I posted does work. I've managed to play past 1453 this way...

What dunno posted is a valid way of extending the the game end date. This info was posted by CA chap quite some time ago.

Yep, it works. Currently enjoying Spanish domination in 1918.

Just befor taking the last province I destroyed everything in a;; provinces except the Iberian peninsula and some of the more valuable provinces.

Just getting my uber govenours numbers up to god like. Chew up rebel stacks all day long and watch the valor and command ratings go up. You get massive battles where only two units can wipe out whole piles of stacks.

It's a different kind of fun.

I assume the game ends in 1066.Is there no way to change the ending date?Only the start pos?

Always determined to prove myself wrong if possible I have found you are correct, the SetGameEndDate:: line does indeed work, who would have thought it my english longbowmen are still wreaking havok in 2003 http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/biggrin.gif.
