lately, I've been constantly plagued with 'this page cannot be displayed' at the Org. I hit the back button and the page that I clicked to go to loads after. What's wrong? It's incredibly irritating. This happens almost everytime I click to view a topic, forum, next page, etc. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-furious3.gif http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-computer.gif

Hello alman9898,

Could you describe it a bit more please? There are various reasons to prevent a page to be loaded. Do you get a page like this

1

or

http://www.totalwar.org/tosa/error/error2.gif
2

or

http://www.totalwar.org/tosa/error/error3.gif
3

Hello,

Page 1 is the result of requesting a webpage that is (temporarily) not available. In other words: a nonsense URL or the HTTP server is crashed or there's no connection possible between your PC and the server (a serious traffic jam somewhere).

You could also hit F5 or use the navigation back in the browser windows.

Page 2 (there are different messages, but there's always Ikonboard CGI Error) is either the result of a problem with the MySQL server or a corrupted board (PERL)script. The latter has happened a few times and had to be fixed by uploading a fresh copy of the script file. The MySQL problems can be various: the 'program' is rebooting on the server (compare it to a crash of Word on your PC) or a corrupted/locked database table are most common.

I've experienced both lately, they were solved within a few minutes, so they were likely server maintenance by the host or a server(program) reboot.

Page 3 is the result of requesting a topic that isn't in this forum anymore: moved or deleted.

Hope this explains.

Hello,

PM boxes are automatically prunned after 21 days, so keep the e-mail copy for reference or copy the message to a word document if you want to save important information. This is the case for several months, but I forgot to say. Sorry.
