...because you think that someone posted a new comment so you check the thread, but it's just some dude voting in a poll that was high on the list two months ago. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/rolleyes.gif

Hey, I have an idea for a poll - but only CA developers can vote.

The poll question is;

"Have you ever made/changed a design decision based on poll results in a forum?"

Possible Answers;
1. "Sure, happens all the time."
2. "Err...maybe like once."
3. "Are you kidding here?? Suggest you try getting a life."

If the result is #1 then by all means keep polling away. However, if numbers 2 or 3 come out on top then please stop the madness. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-wall.gif

Moved to Watchtower,
Maybe Tosa can change it so new votes dont give the new reply icon. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif

Good idea. That always bugs me too.

Hello,

It should be possible to stop a poll to be bumped, just because there's a vote. A reply however, will likely still bump it.

CA does read the forum and feedback is used to tweak/change stuff if it fits in and makes sense. There has been several examples of that. Some polls are accompanied by a constructive discussion, or are constructive by themselves. My guess is that the answer would be: 'at times'.

Edit: code.

Voting no longer bumps topics.

Old polls reappearing because of a single vote drove me crazy, thanks for getting rid of that http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/ht_bow.gif

I drove you crazy? Did you ever have to deal with polls about spam? Or polls about polls? Or polls about polls about spam? Try moderating the Tavern once...

I might be crazy enough to spend far too long writing guides for no personal gain, and to claim to be a frog, but I am not that crazy You'd have to be some kind of extra crazy sado-masochistic loon with a pechant for inflicting cruel and unusual punishment on yourself to be a tavern mod http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-grin.gif

Mind you, tavern mods do get that neat cattle prod with the org logo on the handle...

Hard to mod the Tavern becasue there's generally more to read through? Or what? Please explain. http://www.totalwar.org/forum/non-cgi/emoticons/gc-stunned.gif

The Tavern is hard to mod because it is a very buzy forum with every second thread on the brink of turning into a flame war and whatever you do against it you´ll be called biased.

some moments during the day are very heavy in traffic. so a mod might read through a thread that looks okay, only to have a very inflammatory reply added while it's being viewed. so the mod thinks the thread is okay, and moves on leaving it alone. meanwhile, other users who just logged on see it and get angry because the mod didn't immedietly warn/delete that post.
